TaylorMade R9 Version "B" Tour iron GIVEAWAY!!!

Recommended Posts

I don't have a matched set of irons! I have, respectively, a Snake Eyes 3, Maltby MMB 4-6, Toski 7-9, and Maltby PW and GW. My SW is a Snake Eyes, and my LW is another model of Maltby. I was told by a professional club fitter that I'm a nightmare, even though I refer to my bag of irons as the "Frankenstein bag." I shop irons all the time -- even though I can't justify the expense now. My hope is to eventually acquire a matched set and break 80 -- finally, so I can frame the scorecard. TaylorMades have a great reputation.

Been a five years 'young' player (discovered the game in mid-30s after return from OIF III; missed my daughter's birth, but got bit by the bug after wife--God bless her--told me to at least take advantage of the lessons her dad bought me)

But when it comes to gear, 'old school' (always at least a couple of seasons behind the newest TMAG schtuff), which got me down to a 10.3 HCP index, until preps for my son's arrival, predicated by another vacation to the sandbox, this time OEF). But I digress; the 'sea bag' that got me to 10.3:

Driver: R7 quad Tour X-flex speeder
Woods: R7 TP 15 and 17.5 degree
Rescue Mid 22 degree
Irons: TM 300 3-PW (which I sold--I already know--so please don't rub it in) and RAC TP 2005 3-PW, which is still in the bag.
I've seen Justin Rose hitting 'em lately, and I notice some very classic lines (talking about the R9 TPs) in his swing photos.

But I digress. My points to why I'd love to win these R9 TPs are as follows:

The clubs are crazy long, with some forgiveness, while retaining a head profile and feel similar to my RAC TPs. I did my usual test at my favorite local high-end shop (they see me often, but with two pups on my fire team, socks, cleats, and 'testing' the new gear rounds out my visits) by hitting the 3-iron and just tagged it--to the point that the boys working the launch monitor thought they had a glitch in the software. I actually like clubs with a classic look and love to work the ball. I'm a masochist of the Curtis Strange (and now, Graeme McDowell) school that believes good shots should feel pure, and poor swings should sting or be 'punished really badly'. I took a few more swings, and the ball flight, left/right variance was minimal--a tight shot group. Even some of my average (up to a point) swings were still rewarded.
Now that I'm staring 40 in the face, I'm yearning for the length of a couple of years and one shoulder surgery ago, and I don't appreciate the stings of the bad shots as much.

Saw them in person for 1st time yesterday and they are awesome looking. Pro at my club just got them. Then he hit them and they sound awesome too ... so solid and crisp. These compete with the best clubs out of Japan like Miuras and Epon, but likely have a playability advantage. They've always been known for their drivers but right now a strong case can be made that TM makes the best irons in the world too. Well done TM :good:

I would like these irons because they are free and right now that is the only price I can afford for set of irons. Plus the Ho in me is dying for a new set of irons, but financier is keeping me from pulling the trigger.

We randomize all the number of posts and the #1 number on the top is the winner. Say there is 1,000 replies from members. We will randomize 1 to 1,000 using a website that has a randomizer. It scrambles the numbers and the #1 is the first place and the #2 is the second etc. If the winner has duplicate entries we count the first.

We will do the same for every contest. <<< Rules for the contest >>>

These irons look like stealth ninja weapons. Absolutely beautiful and It would only be fitting that I use the tour issued "B" version irons as I have a serious reputation to keep up on the golf course(LOL).... I hope the "B" stands for better shots, better accuracy or better score as I could use all three on days when my game isn't up to par. If nothing else, I would be replacing/upgrading my old R7 irons with a newer, fresher look + better technology & please include black nickel KBS shafts with these irons so I can look like a real Samurai on the course.
