Why is it every year i watch the U.S. Open I get frustrated watching the coverage. JOHNNY MILLER is way to harsh no these players. I cant stand his smart comments and they just do a horrible job compared to ABC and CBS. Does anyone else feel the same way?? I'll give it 5 more minutes before i hit the mute button.

I think it's the best coverage out there. Lanny Wadkins is the most annoying commentator by far. The US Open is my favorite tournament to watch all year: great courses, harsh set ups, great golf, and Johnny Miller. :friends:

I'm not a Miller fan at all. When he is right all you do is here about it. When he is wrong. He just says something else to change the subject. I wish he could putt, that way he might go to the Champions Tour. In this months Golf Digest he says how single strap bags are better, and easier to use. When do you think he carried a bag further than from his garage to his trunk? The best would be to get someone else(Faldo for example) in the booth to force him to tighten up his commentary.

I dont care for Miller either, but he was spot on with his comments about Phil down the strech and 18th. ABout not needing to go for the gusto......no shame after his blown second shot, hitting his 3rd well up the fairway to the front of the green and getting up and down...like Ogilvey did...the Champion.

They didnt show where Phil's 2nd shot on 18 went. They stayed on his reaction and they showed Goeff signing his card.

I like Johnny Miller. I think he is good at what he does.

The only think we know about Phils second was it went 25 yards ahead, but still in the rough with possible tree trouble ahead.

 

Miller was saying rather then try and go over those trees....hit off the right side of them, up just short of the green and get up and down like Geoff did. And go to a playoff.

 

 

It was like a train reck in slo mo and every shot before Phil hit it, Johnny said, should take the 4 wood....or go down the fairway and get up and down. Like I said...dont care for Johnny, I think he can be too negative, but he was pin point.

I don't really care who is commentating it...they are pointless...anyone can see that he made the putt for birdie...I am there to watch the golf not to listen to the commentators.

I like Johnny Miller. IMHO, he tells it like it is. He sounds like how any of us would when watching or participating in a sport. He doesn't sugarcoat anything; if a guy hits a bad shot, he says so. Unlike Lanny (whom I can't stand) who tries to get into the guy's head and explain why he must've hit a bad shot. Johnny says, "Plain and simple, that was just a bad swing."

Exactly! Made me laugh because that was what I was thinking. He had me in tears when they were talking about Ferrie and his Superman belt. What did Johnny say? "You'd think he'd have a better build wearing that thing." Something to that effect. Cracked me up.

Johnny doesnt really bother me... There is other people I'd rather listen to and he does get annoying but he has some good comments and says it like it is. For example about how Phil should have just went for par instead of trying to go all amazing. I found the belt and the white stallion thing quite entertaining hahaha.
