CG10 vs. 588's

Which is better?

I'm like pretty much every other golfer and played 588's for a long time. Started with chromes, then switched to RTG's. My Mizuno Black Nickel's are wearing down, and I'm looking to replace and go back to Cleveland wedges. My question is: Are the CG10's any better than good old 588's? How good is this CMM material that they use? Are the CG10's $40 better than 588's? Any help would be appreciated. I've found a lot of conflicting reports on the CMM material and could use some help. Thanks

I think that the 588's will last longer. My dad's CG10 has already shown some wear and discolouration after 2 months. For me, I'd much rather stick to my 900's. I don't really think that the CG10's are 30$ better, but for $40 thy're worth a shot.

I haven't hit the 588's but I will say that I love my CG10's much more than my 900. I get better spin and they have a very soft feel.

agree with the previous post, the the cg10's have more heel grind, but i really like the 588 because the head felt so heavy. made them easy to control on short shots for me.

I believe the CG10 is better feeling and will provide more spin than the 588 chrome. However, IMO, the 588 rtg (or TG) is the best wedge ever made due to the grind. The "tg" grind will not dig in any condition, and allows me SO much versatility in comparison to any other wedge, including the CG10. Between the chrome 588 and the CG10, I would definitely recommend the CG10. However, if you are able to get the old "tg" 588, then I would go with those.

Of course you can always try to find a CG10 "T" wedge that has the "tg" grind. I have also heard straight from cleveland that the cg11 low bounce is the closest sole configuration to the "tg" grind of any current retail wedge, but have not had the opportunity to try them yet. That might be the best of both worlds.

CG10's 588's are a great wedge, CG feel a little better, little softer IMO. Can't go wrong with either. I also did not experience the really bad wear some players have had with the CG's. Mine still look good after a year or so. They wear like any other club, don't believe the hype. I did hear the black ones wear crazy, but the chromey ones are fine.
