I live about a half hour or so from Eagle Rock. I have played there three times this year. Love the course! One strange hole on the back 9. I am in the golf business, and I have never really heard of a par 5 that you need to lay up with an long iron off the tee in order not to hit it in the water. Other then that, would highly recommend the course.

I've never played this place but if you are thinking of Split Rock forget that, just turn left rather than right at the entrance and you'll enter Jack Frost National, one of the best in the area. If you drive about 20mi north you'll hit Blue Ridge Trail, 27 holes and always in great shape, private club quality. If you head east a bit you can play Center Valley, etc. Or go south to Hershey!

You'll like JFN. The par 3s are my favorite in the area, 2 of them 185+ and the others 170 with a 60ft elevation drop or guarded by pot bunkers all over. The course is only open a few years and is getting better every year, plus drainage is the best around. Plays just over 7250 from the tips so it is a completely different experience than Split Rock. Blue Ridge Trail is a bit more tight than JFN and can play darn long too as Blue/Ridge plays just over 7100 and Ridge/Trail I think has a slope of 148 or so.

My wife and I along w/ three other couples did a golf / spa weekend their last fall.
The course it self is OK, nothing special with no real memorable holes to speak of. It is your typical mountain resort course that tended get tight in a few places where they tried to cram holes in, very wooded, and a lot bugs (Bring spray). Also keep in mind their is no half way house, only a snack shack where #6 and #13 (i think) pass each other, so once your on the course you won't see the pro-shop (or your car) until you walk off 18. We played 36 that day and P.O.P was Verrrry slow and the staff was very rude and not accommodating at all.

On the resort side, for ascetics the place is absolutely gorgeous. But the ladies said that it could be the worst spa experience that they have ever had anywhere, again bad service and very rude. The food and their attention to details are treble, it is like they were trying to figure out how to keep the place open for the residents until it was cold enough to make snow to ski. Bad service through out.

We made two trips that WE to Eagle Rock, first and last. We will never go back.

My recommendation is drive a hour south and go to Hershey, for a little more money they are way better experience for golf and everything else

Glad to hear BRT fit the bill. I love that place for a public course in the Scranton/WB area, course is always maintained well, and pace is always good too. My only gripe is Tony doesn't let you walk early on the weekends, though some of walks are a mile so it is understandable.

Hard to believe JFNs greens were fuzzy? I was there 3'weeks ago just before they were punched and they were rolling like marble. Don't let one bad experience ruin it for you, great course, getting better every year too.
