Loft, Swing Speed

Call me Stupid.

I am in the market for a new driver and was wondering what loft to get. i dont want to go to a golf retailer and see the launch moniters. hate em. I have previously owned 8.5*, 9.5* and a 10.5* from a fews years ago. i was wondering if there is some way to figure it out. it doesnt make sense to me that annika sorenstam, whose SS is 104 (according to golf digest) could be using an lower lofted driver than vijay and phil. there swing speeds are around 120 i think. the long drive guys like zuback use 5 or 6 degree drivers. i am totally lost. any help would be GREATLY appreciated. thank you in advance. by the way my swing spped is about 115-120. thank you.

Using my swing speed calculator I would guess you don't swing every driver @ 115-120.

Vijay uses a 10.5 bent around 4 degrees open. that means the driver plays closer to 6.5.

Choosing driver lofts depends on your swing & ball position. if you are steep & play the ball back, you will have a low launch, high spin ball flight. If you are on plane & shallow to a ball on your front heel then you should have a high launch low spin ball flight. Most guys on on the LDA hit the ball on the up swing & play it way up in their stance to launch it around 13* with very low spin. I would use a launch monitor to fine tune your spin & launch angle. That is what they are for. If you hate having clubs that fit your swing then I understand your hate of launch monitors. :drinks:
