Did you call and see what the course conditions were like? Is there any snow down there?
They haven't gotten much down there at all. Definitely not any left

May be a bit wet (Seaview is walking only due to wet conditions) so take that as you will.

Playing Atlantic City Country Club for $60 75% off the in season rate on Thursday!
hope you enjoy it and get good conditions!
Thx. Supposed to be close to 60 so a dollar a degree! As long as there are not temp greens I will be golden. Rumor is that my local course will have its range open this weekend...Things definitely looking up.

AC CC is a nice course. I played it twice last year. I am playing seaview this saturday. Cant wait!
AC CC is a very nice classic course. but it feels like the Pebble Beach of south jersey to me, in that it has the 6 amazing holes, 6 good holes, and 6 forgettable holes. normally, i wouldn't think of it that way but for the insane amount of money they charge, they deserve a little scrutiny. of course, you are paying for an experience beyond just the course, but i don't think that experience is quite worth their mid-season premium.

I agree with you. I am playing there tomorrow for $60 so I feel like I am getting a bargain vs the $225. I have not played it in 15 years as I moved from the area and I was surprised it went public. I am looking forward to Doak's redo. Hopefully the 6 mundane holes were improved!

AC Country Club charges that much because they are owned by Harrah's Resorts. So technically, it's a resort course(despite being a public track) owned by a casino, which would most likely explain why they charge whatever they want.

right, and i guess they get enough whales in from out of town how pay the $200+ without thinking. taking that out of the equation, i think it's a $150 course, tops.

I will give you a mini review of the course tomorrow. Agree with the $150 comment. I think Bulle Rock is in that range. And I like Bulle Rock a lot.

Unfortunately, not many great public tracks at reasonable rates($75 or less) here in the Northeast USA. The best collection of private courses we have....

I am playing Sunday morning for $65 - first time playing the course. Looking forward to playing it finally after being to a wedding there... I know in the summer they push caddies, do you know if it just carts this early in the season?
Played today. Course was surprisingly bone dry. Wind kicked up in the afternoon so it was a challenge--especially for the first time out in months. Really good mix of holes. Very good collection of par threes--challenging in the wind. A par 70 playing about 6300 with the tees that are out. Some very strong par 4's. The holes along the marsh are strong. Kind of agree with the Pebble Beach comment. 6 Great, 6 good and 6 kind of mundane holes. I walked and carried, same price. They had a couple caddies if you wished. Carts were free to roam as it was that dry. Course was in very good condition considering there has not been any work done yet. Bunkers were pretty good, greens decent speed.

If you can get a round in before the rates go up--it is worth it. Number 1 rated Public golf course in NJ according to golf week.

How about Sand Barrens?

Ballamor?

Shore Gare?

Blue Heron?

Anybody have any information on those courses
my father was a member at Ballamor for a few years when it was still private. from that, i highly recommend it. can't speak much about how well they are keeping it since it went public.

Sand Barrens is nice. It was my HS course. Some holes are sand as far as you can see, but fun. Carts all have GPS. They have 3- 9's with the North being the nicest and toughest. It ends with a par 3 over the pond towards the clubhouse. Normally a good rate at 2-3pm. No beer unless you are "club" member who signed up before that day ($10 I think).

Ballamor was private as Mark mentioned, now run by same people as Scotland Run. I played last June and it was disorganized (didnt have either of my tee times booked) and pretty soggy. I wasn't impressed compared to others. The layout had you cross over a lot to the point I had no idea where we were!

Shore Gate is along the same style as Sand Barrens (5 miles away) but a little longer and tougher. 9th hole is a bear at 648 par 5 from the tips, dogleg around the lake. I thought it was in great shape last summer

Blue Heron Pines is a great track. I played cart path only after bad rains and it still wasn't too soggy. Definitely one I want to go to again to see on a good day.

Harbor Pines has a nice clubhouse, built in housing community but holes aren't on top of houses. I really enjoyed this last summer but the greens were a little slow.

Cape May Nat'l is fun track nicknamed "The Natural" since they built next to bird sanctuary and allow some natural growth. I play here quite often each summer. On holidays it can get a little slow with people looking in fescue for balls, but still much quicker than Avalon.

McColloughs is city owned links style track next to Twisted Dune. Twisted was much better in my mind, but there is price difference. Twisted was rebuilding 13/14 (back corner) last summer due flooding in the spring, but should be all finished and in nice shape this year.

I still need to hit up AC CC though. Let me know if you want more specifics on a particular course. I come down to play a couple times a summer as my parents live in the area.

Heading down to play Emerald in a bit. Excited to check out #7 and #14
if you can explain how #7 made this list:

http://www.golfdigest.com/golf-courses/2011-01/photos-18-most-fun-holes#slide=14

you'll be a better man than i.

but seriously, i've played McCullough's a lot as the "decent, inexpensive option that stays open in almost all weather". and while that hole is one of the more interesting on the course, i was dumbfounded when i saw it on this GD list next to many of the world's best. good for them, i suppose!

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
