Help with buying a hybrid

Looking for some advice on buying a hybrid. My bag is currently Dr, 3w, 5w, 4-p 51,56,60. I have a distance gap between my 5 wood ( ave distance 210 y, I have pured it 220 carry b4 but I wouldn't call that ave ) & 4I ( ave 185 y ) and was looking for a for hybrid to give some more yardage over my 4I but not so much as to put a big gap betwwen the hybrid and 5I ( ave 175 y) so maybe an extra 5-7 yards max needed. I know the hybrid will give me more carry than my 4Iwhich is a plus. My irons are 18proseries dgs300 loft 23.5* 38.5". Any suggestions to lofts, brands, shafts that could help me out would be appreciated. Thx

I just addressed a similar problem. I didn't want to give up a wedge, and my gap between 4 iron and 5 wood was 25-30 yards. Instead of getting rid of the 4 iron, I got a 19 degree hybrid and got rid of the 5 wood. I figure the hybrid will be 10 yards shorter than the 5 wood, and I'd rather have the gap at a longer distance. Now I have better distribution--20 yards from 3W to hybrid, 15 yards from hybrid to 4-iron.

hey thanks for the reply. I 'm so in love with my 5 wood I can't give it up . I currently will choke down and inch, inch and a half to get 200 y. It lands so soft this club but when I 'm faced with 190 and there is wind it gets more difficult. Do I choke down 3 inches on the 5 w or kill the 4I ( which obviouly creates more spin not into the wind. )

In that case, you should probably go for a 21* or 22* hybrid. Sonartec and Bridgestone make 21*, lots of OEMs make 22*.

If you get an opportunity to hit a Bridgestone hybrid they are great!!!! I hit an 18deg and love it. I know they have a few more options.

I would suggest reorganizing your wedges. Try carrying a 52 and a 58 instead of 52/56/60. This should still give you plenty of short game flexability and cover the distance gap at the long range end of your set. Then look into a 21 +/- 1 degree hybrid to act inbetween your 4-iron and 5-wood.

I initially thought of re orginizing my wedges however my pitching wedge is 46 so I could go 52 58 I guess. I hit my wedges p-120 G -105 S-90 L-70 so going to that would probably be p-120 S-100 L-80 or something. I think though I prefer less of a gap down in the bag then at longer distances. I hit my 5 I 175 so if I could get a hybrid that hits it say 190 range I would only have a 20 y gap from my 5 wood and 15 y from my 5 I.

what would you say your swing speed would be approximatly?

I was just on a launch monitor two days ago to pick a shaft for a comp . Currently I was averaging 103 swinging a driver.
