rebuilding swing

want to over haul shoulder turn

I am a 4 handicapper with some wins under my belt inside my state but I have want to become a better player. I just got back from playing in our state open but my swing fell apart and now I don't know if I am coming or going. I want to rebuild my swing and I want to get my hand out of the swing. I know that I have a really quick lower body and matching up the sync is where things seem to be going wrong ( a lot of hooks, pull hooks and blocks) I saw some teacher showing drills at the open where they had their students cocking their wrist and turning to the toe up position and then just raising the shoulders and pull the handle toward the ball. My shoulders are more of a rounded move rather than a turn lift move. Could this be disasterous if I move to this philosophy? I have tried to hit half swings with this and I have really started to fell the difference in shoulder turn and consistanancy is better. Any teacher out there I would welcome some insight on where to turn for a more fluenant swing.

The best drill I ever got for synching up my swing, I stole from Tiger and Butch on TGC back in 2000.

 

Backswing...pause...count to two....then go.

 

You can't fake it at that speed. It really REALLY synchs everything up.

 

Work on that drill for about elevendy-billion balls and it all comes natural. :help:

 

...seriously...I don't know how Tiger ever put up with it...I can't stand doing that drill.

I have been trying the pump drill and a little version of my own training and now I am hitting it solid again. I flip the club to toe up and hip height and then all I do is lift my shoulders and pull the handle toward the ball going down into impact and I have taken the pull hooks and draws out of the game. I shot 71 today after one wk of doing nothing but that drill. I hit the really well today
