CG1 Tour Review

Well I just got a staff deal with cleveland and figured I'd post a lil review on the irons for everyone. I ordered CG1 Tours DG X100 2*up 3-pw.

Looks:

They look pretty solid from address for the most part. The long irons have a slightly thicker top line, probably to hide the small cavity, but the mid and short irons look great, pretty similar to the VR Blades that I made the switch from. They have the satin chrome finish that cleveland has had in years past as well.

Feel:

Well....they aren't forged that's for sure. I'm used to the feel of my Nike's so it will take a little getting used to. Now that being said, they definitely dont have a bad feel, just a firmer one than what i'm used to. For those of you who have hit the older CG1's its very similar.

Performance:

I'm pretty happy with the performance....Only played 1 round but not disappointed at all. The long irons have a nice mid-high trajectory that is very easy to knock down when need be and the short irons are easily controlled...These do have the laser milled faces and wow it definitely spins the ball. Long irons tended to hit and stop within 10 feet on some fairly firm greens which is pretty impressive. Short irons spun really well too with most coming back easily off slight slopes and stopping dead on flat areas. I spin the ball a decent amount as it is and while these do spin more than the Nike's I had previously, they aren't difficult to control.

Overall:

I'm pretty happy with the switch....the only real complaint is the feel, i wish cleveland would forge an iron, if so these would be one of the best sets i've hit. But I'm going to stick with them, the performance for me outweighs the little trade off in feel. I'll admit that if i wasn't on cleveland staff i wouldn't have bothered to try these given all the great products out there but now that I have, i'm glad i did. They are a solid product that should be up there with any other players iron set.

I also have the TL310 Driver. If anyone would like any info on its performance let me know.

So with a staff deal....do you have to do anything special for them? Cause by your review you dont seem to be a big Cleveland supporter.

Not really anything to do...I am a Cleveland supporter...I just didn't really expect to like these as much as I do. They are a very solid iron. Cleveland has actually been a great company for me to deal with and are very helpful with any questions or issue's I've had.
