leupold rangefinder battery life

I am wondering about the rechargeable battery life of the Leupold rangefinders specifically the gx-3. I know it says 10,000 hits but what does that mean in rounds of golf? 30 rounds? 50 rounds? Also how does this fair over time. rechargeable batteries have a history of losing power over time and not holding a good charge as they age. Has this number of rounds per charge changed since you purchased your range finder? Can you buy a replacement battery?

I have had a Leupold (older model) for about a year. It is on its third battery. I play 4 - 5 rounds per week all year round and make maybe an average of two shots per hole (maybe one for me, one for a fellow golfer; or two for me; or whatever). I am not at all unhappy with battery life. I do carry a spare, because when they die there is no advance warning.

I thought the newer versions had a warning telling you that the battery would die. How many weeks do you go between charges?

I've had mine for just about a year (GX-3) and it has been through ~100 rounds and a few unfamiliar ranges that I needed yardages for. Right now the battery indicator says it is still full having 3 out of 3 bars.

I'm not sure about the whole rechargable battery but mine came with a Cr2 Lithium battery. Being that they run about $6-8 from local photo stores I'll just buy a new one at the beginning of every season and not have to worry about it dying out or losing charge. I've lost more money than on one tee box bailing balls OB so it seems like a sound investment.

Leupold GX series have replaceable CR2 batteries not rechargeable ones.

My first battery has lasted over a year now.

ahhh I see. I thought they were rechargeable. I guess that answers that question. I will just buy a spare and keep it with me

Still on my first battery after over a year of use...probably 50-60 rounds, but I'll go several holes without using it.
