Have recently bought the I-506s with Nippon 950 stiff after trying out several competitors (CG2, CG4, CG4 tours, MP-60, MX-23, Titleist 735, 775, Bridgestone CB, Callaways X-tour, X18, x18 tour, Tour Edge exotics 1EX) with various shafts when possible. Played TA7s for a long time with DG S300.

Srixons are just great clubs, specifically compared to the Bridgestones I think that they are easier to hit, more forgiving and much better looking at address. As with any clubs in this category, you do have to have a decent swing and strike the ball consistently but I think anyone with a 15 index or less can play them. I was drawing (sometimes hooking) the ball too much with my TA7s probably due to the more significant off-set. The I-506 are straight and as long as the TA7's which have a little more loft on the short irons, this may be a function of the lighter Nippon shaft. Although I have a rescue club, I often will not shy away from a 3 or 4 iron in the I-506.

Note: the stock I-506s are 1/4 inch shorter in the short irons than standard clubs, also about 1 degree flatter, so make sure that you get fitted.

I've been wondering the same thing...Of course, need to try the i-506's out, but I love the BS CB's...I currently play x-tours, and the clunkiness is starting to get to me more and more...

A subject near and dear to me.

I have 506's and J33 Combos. If I could have three sets (which can't b/c I would be divorced), I would also have the J33 cbs.

The 506's I think are more forgiving than the cbs. The 506s looks great at set-up. They do have sharp leading edges, and widish soles. The former feature might be a problem if you play on soft turf. I have found that I like them a little more on dry Fla. tracks and the links courses that I play than I do on the peaty turf of my home course. The J33s (both combos and cbs) have a more "killed" leading edge.

The 506's will almost certainly be easier to hit for anyone I can think of in the long irons. Probably a little easier in the short irons too.

The lengths and lies are similar to Mizuno . . . . 1.5* flat of American standard, and .25" short of American standard. I have not adjusted mine yet, but will probably have them bent up 1.5* and taken 1/4" longer when I get around to it to match the specs of my J33 combos, which are a perfect fit for me. My recollection is that B-Stone specs are 1.5" more upright for the J33 irons, but do run at 37.75" for a 5 iron, same as Srixon.

Basically, the 506s are a real sleeper in the marketplace, and really fill a nic eniche for someone like me ( 13.6 index) who like a traditional look at address, but can still benefit more forgiveness than you might get in a hardcore "player's cavity".
