Lake of isles at foxwoods is one of my favorite courses (very long) always in pristine shape. I like it almost as much as pine hills. what i dont like is the rates i think its around 160-190 this time of year, but i do get out with the boys in the fall for about 90 bucks. Win a few hands.....maybe get a round comp.

Lake of Isles is a good course but it's pricey. If your looking for something easier on the wallet head to Shenneccossett in Groton (20 minutes). It's an old Donald Ross design, and the afternoon rates are cheap- check the website - they are always running a special...Also check out Fox Hopyard (East Haddam) that should be more reasonably priced and I'm sure you'll like it. The Mohegan Sun course is a dog.

I played that course in groton a few years back when my brother was attending the coast guard academy, and yeah that is a nice course as i remember

I've played Lake of Isles twice. The first time was during peak season so $200 but all refreshments and snacks from the cart girl and concession stand were on the house. I'm not saying this justifies the high green fees but it truly is a nice course, beautiful scenery and definitely a challenge. I played like crap (lost about a dozen balls) but still had a ton of fun.

Second time must have been off season because we paid about $100 and no free drinks and snacks. Either that or they stopped with the free refreshments.

I played Lake of Isles a few weeks ago, and when I went into the shop to pay they were offering a deal to sign up for Troon Rewards (their email thing) and it would knock that day's greens fee down to around $120 from $175 (this was a weekday). Of course I unsubscribed from the rewards email after the first one

Lake of Isles is always in pristine conditions and one of the best challenges around. The par 3's are some of the best in CT and are memorable. The Mohegan Sun course, formally known as Pautipaug CC, is closed for renovations and they plan to open next year. No matter what they do to renovate the course, it will never match up with Lake of Isles- the property is second to none.

Lake is a great course, but can really frustrate you if you're struggling off the tee, as there are many forced carries. CTGOLFNUT66 is correct about the Troon Rewards card. It is free to sign up for, and thru Aug 31, greens fees are dropped to $129. They've also run other specials, particulary in the spring (play one @ $129, come back for a second round free), with the card, so it's worthwhile to have should you wish to return.
