Titleist High Performance Wedges ('91-'96)

Anyone ever play any of these?

Can't find hardly anything on the net about these old wedges. Looks like they were the predecessors to the Vokeys. I picked up a 5615 model SW at a yard sale and wondered if anyone had played any of the line and how it compared to some of the mainline stuff like the Cleveland CG's, Vokeys, etc.

Developed with Peter Kostis these high performance wedges feature 5 loft and bounce angles suitable for a wide range of course conditions, swing types and personal preferences. If I remember correctly, Kostis was really ahead of his time in wedge design. Before designing these for Titleist, he sold his own line, I believe he was partnered with Toski. They were sold in three wedge sets, and it was the first 60* I ever owned.

His deal was each wedge should have a different bounce. The 56* had a ton of bounce, while the 60* had almost none with a really wide sole.

Thanks for indirectly reminding me of his work before becoming famous as a commentator!

I still carry a 52 10 that I got it new around 1994. It's still is in great shape and my go to club from 115 and in.

I had a BeCu 56 that someone had bent down to 54. It was a fine wedging weapon. Come to think of it....li think it's still in my garage.

How was it for feel? spin? Im planning to bend the 5611 to 5813.

Wish I could be more helpful but I was in my early 20s and playing the best golf I'd ever played. Everything felt good. Plus....I could putt back then,

I like it because it was good on hard pan and filled a gap that allowed me to eliminate a wedge and carry a 2 iron. I just remembered something else - the guy I got that wedge from had done something to make it heavy. Really heavy. It was long for a 54 degree wedge.
