Thinking about getting a new driver

LH, 67 YO, mid 80 SS, 17+ handicap: Thinking about getting a new Callaway Diablo Octane 10.5 w/Reg X 5.0 shaft or an Adams Speedline F11 with same characteristics. I've read the reviews on line but would like to hear for someone with real life 1st hand experience that is not affiliated with mfg or sales.

My bad :russian_roulette: ; been looking at so many lines and names are starting to blur. I've narrowed my choices down to 1.) Callaway Diablo Octane or 2.) Adams Speedline F11 w/ VooDoo VS reg.

Went with the Callaway Diablo Octane; Played 18 today (in between rain showers)....took a little getting used too but after about the third hole I was flying the ball with my baby fade 220 to 225, which is good for me.... Pretty east club to hit and the sweet spot is really sweet...

i would also consider the ultralightweight offerings like the adams 9088UL or the cleveland 270/290 series..

they are targeted to help those with slower swing speeds..

i have a ss of 95mph and all my drivers are below 300 grams and it has helped me a lot....am 66 with a 9 hdcp and been playing golf for more than 50 years!!

I'd also consider being fitted by an authorized master club fitter. For me, it was a great opportunity to not only learn more about equipment but to also look and analyze my other clubs. Cost is about the same as a newfangled OEM driver... but with the backing of someone who you can turn to (the club fitter himself) should you need to tweak it.

For me, I had new irons fitted for me, but then we also looked at at my metal woods and driver. We tweaked my OEM driver a lot and now, I will never give it up.

My .02 worth based on my personal experience. Best of luck.

....unless you are absolutely sure of your competence to choose your driver specs, getting fit by a competent clubfiitter is a no-brainer------but if you have unlimited time and resources knock yourself out and keep testing the stock drivers!!
