Private Club Members

Do we have any private club members in Ohio? If so, what club do you belong to?

I'm not a member at Congress Lake CC but I'm a caddy and get to play there every Monday. Just wondering if any of you guys are members or have a way to play them like being a caddy.

I grew up in North Canton, and I used to work at Canton Brookside when I was in high school. That was how I got to play there, and it's still my favorite course in the state. I'm a member at a club in Columbus now, but I still rely on friends to play courses in NE Ohio, including Brookside and Congress Lake.

[/quote]That's awesome man. I actually live in North Canton but I just put Canton in my location since it's alot more recognizable. Did you go to Hoover HS?

I'm actually thinking about caddying at Brookside next season instead of Congress. I like to play new courses so I need a change.

I went to Hoover HS, graduated in 1996. If you're really looking to play a fantastic golf course, I would definitely look into caddying next year at Brookside. Not only will you get to caddy for some great people, but you'll have the chance to play the best course in NE Ohio...or at least top 3 in my opinion.

Did you play on the golf team in high school for Coach Snyder?

But yea, I think I'm definitely gonna caddy there next season.

I was on the Hoover golf team for 3 years for Coach Snyder. Is he still there? Our home course back then was Bob O' Link, which I think is now called the Sanctuary.

I worked at Brookside for 5 years. It was awesome. And now that the course has been restored to more closely resemble the original Donald Ross design, it's even better. I've been fortunate to play most of the clubs here in Columbus. I can honestly say that Brookside arguably would be the equal to, or better than, any of the top courses in Columbus. It might even be in the discussion as one of the top courses in the state. I would put Brookside, Kirtland CC and The Country Club in Cleveland in that category.

Yea, he's still here! He coaches the boys and girls teams both now. He's actually my neighbor, lol. And yea, it's The Sanctuary now. Really nice course. Since then we've switched our home course to The Fairways which used to be Arrowhead Country Club. I think we moved there when it went public a few years ago.

That is great. I live alot closer to Brookside too. It takes me 20 minutes to get to Congress and 10 at the most to get to Brookside. Did you have to go through a caddy school at Brookside or how did that all work? When would you reccommend I call them? Would they start looking for caddies in April or closer to the summer?

It's been so long that I don't remember too much about the caddy school at Brookside, but they used to have one. It was pretty informal though. If I were you, I would reach out to the club in March to see when they start looking for new caddies. It seems like a lot of guys out there take caddies, more so than Congress Lake (I have some friends at Congress, but they rarely walk). So there should be plenty of opportunity to caddy at a place like Brookside.

Have you ever played Glenmoor?

I played Glenmoor once, back when I was in high school. Nice course, but it doesn't compare to Brookside or even Congress, in my opinion.

I worked at Sharon for 3 years. Fun place to play all the time. I play westfield and firestone quite a bit as my dads a member there.

Hickory Hill GC.. Columbus.. small place, nice track.. been there since I was 10

Used to members at Wedgewood in columbus but my dad dropped it when I went to college... Wedgewood is a sick track. I put it 5th in Columbus behind the big 4 (MVGC, Scioto, DEGC, The Golf Club)
