Helldorado, Such an interesting beer and proof the guys at FW know what they are doing, One look at the color and you would not expect the complex taste that comes from it. I really dont know how to describe a "light" barleywine but whatever they did the did a good job, not overpowered by bourbon or hops just a nice balanced beer. The closest I can come to a comparison is the Allegash Cuireux which is a bourbon barrel tripel with much more carbonation so even that is not a good comparison.

The downside to drinking a couple 13% beers at a place that sells bottles, you tend to walk out with something

CLsdqrEUAAAOKKM.jpg

The more I have thought about the Cuirve the more I think it is in my top 5 top 10 at worst all time beers. It is really hard to make a beer over 14% that is not super hot or dominated by booze flavor. Bruery absolutely killed it with this one. A pure classic old ale that is surprisingly smooth drinking for a 16% beer.

Just finished my 2016 model year hot trip for the 5.7L Jeep Grand Cherokee/Dodge Durango. I highly recommend both vehicles...I have them driving awesome!

time to relax in Vegas before I fly home to Michigan tomorrow. Hit up total wine for some stuff to ship home as well as enjoy tonight :)

Picked up some Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Extra tonight. WOW! What a fantastic beer. This is a seasonal and if you haven't tried it, I would advise you to grab some.

Looks like I am able to leave a little earlier than I thought tomorrow but by my calculations I should be driving by Alpine Brewery at about 6:15-6:30 and they close the store at 6pm total bummer would have loved to stop in there. Hopefully we dodge some traffic and can make it in time.

Can't post pics from my phone but cheers from the Stone brewery bar. Holy amazing beer list. Definitely need to come back for a different occasion and have more time to spend at different breweries

I was really impressed by the Stone bistro. Could have spent the better part of the day there. The beer gardens are really cool food was good staff great. I'm not the biggest stone fan but would definitely go back.

Found a great bottle shop in Escondido as well also found out they ship out of state which is awesome. I'll post the website when I get back to AZ

I almost bought this but the $33.99 price tag for one bottle scared me away.

The cuirve? Wow that's pricey and $10 over retail everywhere I've seen it. It's really really good but I'd balk at $40 too

Just got back from So Cal, after a wonderful service for grandma and dinner at her favorite Italian place we were looking for a solid spot for a night cap. Turns out The Bruery was about 15 miles down the road from us so we ended up heading there. Did a couple flights and I had a glass of a So Happens its Tuesday BBA Stout. My Tasting flight, The Blueberry smoking wood was my favorite in the flight, but the So Happens it's Tuesday was my overall favorite.

CL8bC7jUEAAXagx.jpg

My Girlfriend did a sample of the sours, both Hottenroth variants, Jardiner, Culture Club, and Gypsy Tart. I tried each of those too but I just cannot get into sours no matter what I try. Bottle selection for sale was pretty much everything that I could get in AZ with nothing really rare or unique available. Cool little tasting room. Im 50/50 on the Bruery the beers that I like from them I love, but those tend to be very limited compared to what they offer.

I did come home with a few goodies though

Fifty Fifty Old Conundrum barrel aged barleywine x2

Coronado Old Scallywag brandy barrel barleywine

Bravery Brewing brandy barrel barleywine

Prarie Bomb! had a chance to try this at Stone and definitely worth picking up a bottle.

Older Viscosity.

CMAYw5SUAAAPFKE.jpg

Oh and these guys too

CMAYxcZVAAA4AH0.jpg

At Stone I had the 2013 Old Guardian on tap and a glass of Pliny and taster of the Prairie Bomb. I look forward to getting back to the area when I have some more time to explore the other breweries and taprooms.

Oh and that bottle shop in Escondido that ships. Nice folks in there.

It looked like some kind of special anniversary edition, but that was the only one I could find.
