Wilson Sam Snead 100 irons

anyone know them?

just found these today in a pro shop at a driving range in Thailand.
pretty good condition.
reshafted - no label - was told they are NS pro 95 shafts regular (not sure about that with the feel they have).
one shot with the 8 iron convinced me i had to have them.
feel very nice, very solid, definitely a harder type of steel than the Mizuno i am used to but the ball likes it.
ball goes like a rocket when hit good, seem to have more "forward thrust" than the Mizunos.
unusual feature is the top line changes from straight to rounded for the 8 iron up.
(7 iron not in pic, in my bag i forgot).

i did a search and found some Sam Snead 100's but they were different to these,
the 100 was written in script and some heads not the same, some nearly the same i think.
so anyone ever seen these or know anything about them?

It's a very common store line set from the 1980s.

Aren't those NS Pro shafts fairly expensive? Interesting that anyone would have spent any real money to reshaft these.

If they hit good and you like them, that's all that matters. Store line, pro line, who cares? It's all about feel and performance.

was hoping they would be more interesting,
now i look at them again i guess they do look a bit plain retail.
i might have just got lucky with a shaft that suits my swing speed.
maybe the other ones i saw with the "100" stamped as "one hundred" were the pro shop model or something.
there are so many American club models that we never see in Australia and i sometimes find them in Thailand.
and i don't know what they are.
anyhow only paid $50 , that's cheap for the shafts alone.
funny though, i do like them.

boy oh boy have i got work to do in the next few weeks,
have to decide which irons i like the most to play in our annual club tournament.

I wouldn't feel bad about them.

They're forged heads right out of the same era as clubs such as the Staff FG-17.

Chromed forged carbon steel, same as the Staffs. Probably right out of the same forge (factory).

The upgraded shafts probably eliminated the biggest difference between the store line and the pro line.

Never have been real sure what the manufacturing tolerance differences were in pro line versus store line forgings, but they feel good and perform well and that's all that matters.

apex plus gets my vote. the sam sneads are run of the mill budget clubs

---use whichever set works best for what u r trying to do.
For me it'd be hard to choose, as I played mp32s for years and now play mp67s, and I also play Hogan apex IIs, and have played Hogans most of my life.

It would depend on how windy it is...either the mp32s or the apex...apex plus will go higher I am assuming.

Never hit those, but I started golf with a set of Wilson Sam Snead IS520 model clubs and thought they were good clubs. Others hit them and thought they sucked, but if you hit the sweet spot, they felt as good as most other clubs I've hit.
