Driving in search of golf/weather first week in April

Where to go golf in Iowa? other?

Last year we drove from Southeastern MN to Ozarks (about an 8 hour drive)

It was fun, but we want to drive just as far as we have to wirh decent weather...

We will be leaving April 2nd, 2012 and want o find some quality golf (at early season affordable prices)

Anything in Iwoa, other places that would closer to the 5 hour drive from Rochester, MN?

I realize you can't "count" on good weather, unless you go to AZ, but any ideas?

Try SE Tennessee.....plenty of good golf in the Smokies at that time of year.

I was looking for CLOSER golf to SE Minnesota than Lake of Ozarks, not further

Try SE Tennessee.....plenty of good golf in the Smokies at that time of year.

I think you have a geography problem! 5 hours won't really get you too much. The Davenport, IA / Silvis, IL area has some good golf, about 4.5 hrs, but it'll be dicey in early April. Should be playable, but anywhere from mid -40s to mid 70s.

I'd recommend Indianapolis, but that's probably not really closer than the Lake of the Ozarks.

Where'd you play @ the Lake of the Ozarks, and how was it?

Played Old Kinderhook (twice) , Osage National (all the nines) and Deer Chase

Kinderhook was BY FAR my favorties

Take a much longer drive to Alabama and play the RTJ Golf Trail! Not what you are looking for I realize but had to put in a plug.

Yeah, could just be wishful thinking. But for a 4 day trip I don't want to spend 2 days in the car

I may just be a "drive til you can stick a tee in the ground" trip....

you can get to northern Kansas City in 5-6hrs from Rochester. my folks live in western Minneapolis, i'm in southern Kansas City and I do the trip door-to-door with a couple stops in 7hrs or less.

we'll be plenty warm for golf in april.
