Recent Scottsdale Az. Golf Trip Review

Day 1. McDowell Mountain (formally Sanctuary) . I had played this track when it was Sanctuary so this was the first time I had played it since Phil Mickelson has bought it and totally revamped it. It started a little rocky as they lost or tee-time and got us off about 40 minutes late but we did get all 18 in. A really nice course for the money. They have totally redone this course. They open it up and made the fairways a lot wider and removed a lot of bunkers and desert area trying to make it a little more hacker friendly. I would defiantly say I like the new layout a lot better. If your looking for a a good inexpensive course to warm up on I would recommend it. It was fairly well groomed and the greens were in good shape. If your wanting to be wowed this might not be the course for you but for the money its a nice track. $70 fees

Day 2. Quintero Golf Club. I was very excited to play this course as it just recently opened up to the public. From the minute we pulled up I knew this was going to be a great scenic course. The course was built into the side of a mountain and flowed in and out of the valleys. It was really cool to look up the mountain and see the plush green fairways. I takes around 5 minutes to get to the first tee as you get in your cart and drive all the way up the mountain. This is an extremely beautiful course as over half of the tee boxes are elevated. For example I hit a 9 iron on a 210 par 3 and blew the green, that's how elevated it is. The one mistake we made by playing this course is that we under estimated how difficult this course was. We played the back tees and would have had a lot more fun if we would have moved up a tee or two. Overall I will defiantly play this track again as it was on of the most scenic courses I've played. And you also would find a better course in the area for the rate. $60 fee

Day 3. Troon North. There's not much to say except it always lives up to its name. This course as always plays great and is in pristine condition. The greens are fast and the fairways are very playable if your smart and leave your crazy clubs in the bag. I will add though I don't think this course is worth the prime rate of $280 but we got it very inexpensive off of ez links. If you get a chance this play in Az. defiantly put this course toward the top of the list. I might even venture to say I like it better than WE-KO-PA. $110 fee

Day 4. Ledgend Trail. This is another course I had heard great things about but had never played. If I came away from the the week with a favorite all around course if conditions, staff, play-ability and price are all factored in I would say this course wins. It is a gorgeousness course with all the right amount of plush fairways and desert mixed in. I didn't pull my driver out on more than 2 holes (its my crazy club) but was still able to score very well. Overall I highly recommend this course and will defiantly be back to play it. Plus the staff and the rangers we the nicest and knowledgeable I have ever experienced. $85 fee

Overall a great 4 rounds of golf. I recommend this 4 day layout of course as they all give you a little something different. You could also throw a WE-KO-PA in and have the entire package.
