Tools for improvement

What do you all use for measuring your improvement and stat overview?

Hi fellow Golfers,

I thought I would hear what gear you all use for trackingimprovement and performance.

I recently started playing again, after a break, and I have wantedto get back up to form, and hopefully reduce my HCP a bit in the process. To dothis, I started tracking my performance with strokes and yards,

but I think Ineed some more to see where my game can really improve.




So I thought I would hear you guys what you use to trackyour own game and measure improvements.




What kind of stats do you all keep track of?




And what tools (if any) do you use?

I use oobgolf.com to try to keep some basic stats like fairways, GIR, putts, and sand saves...the operative word being TRY. I always get lazy and/or forget to either mark it on the course, or forget to enter the score after my round. But this upcoming season, I'm going to make it a habit to keep basic stats. I just bought the below G-Stats for 5 bucks...I know I can just use a score card, but hopefully, this will force me to use it after each hole:

I use GolfShot app on my itouch for stats, I mark the scorecard and enter it later. I track fairways hit, missed left, missed right, GIR, putts, putts/GIR, scramble etc. I use the uPro GPS for measuring shot distance and navigating my way around the course.

I use fairwayfiles.com its free and I track GIR, FAIRWAYS AND PUTTS. Write on the card as I play. If I'm playing alone I write it going down using all of the card. I put a y for yes and an n for no.

When I'm play with others I write it all in my square. I use dots instead of y's and n's. Top left corner place a dot if I hit the fairway top right gets a dot if I hit gir and then the number of putts bottom right.

I've got GolfLogix on my phone. Keeps track of score, puts, GIR, fairways hit, and when I don't hit them (usually), if I missed left or right (right. I almost always slice right). It has some other features I don't use, such as putting outcomes (if you missed a putt, in what direction, long or short). Oh, and I measure my drives with it. Plus, I can pull all the info up on my computer from their website.

Since I got an iphone i went with an App called showmegolfers

Someone from my club recommended it. has anyone from here tried it?

It keeps more stats than I can use, but it gives me a great overview when deciding my tactics.

Some of the stats:

5 different average drive distance measures (par 4, 5, all, fairways hit)
Fairways hit (%, par 4, par 5)
GIR (par 3, 4, 5 , )
Average hole score (par 3, 4, 5 )
Average putts and more

it also ensures that I don't become a slow player by measuring my fastest and slowest rounds (thought that was funny since Ben Crane is one of the pro's endorsing it)

I just got "Golfer Stats Pro" for my Android phone. Great app, with a quick and easy way to enter your golf scores during the round. After the round you can review over 60 different stats (Overall, by course, by round, and by year) You can even compare the last round to other rounds. Its a great app and only 1.50 you cannot beat the price.

I do not use all the stats, but they are fun to look at and see if I can improve in certain areas.
