Too bad it all turned to moronic discussions of politics, but never fear Tiger will solve it all when he becomes president with Barack Obama as VP (that way he will have a couple of years in the Senate so he should be ready). So that gives Tiger about 2 more years of golf. :) Remember Earl told us he was going to do "great things" outside of golf. You think he is missing a lot of tournaments now---look out.

On a political side note, golf is a real good game to really get to know a person. Since I have been able to play golf with 6 presidents (care to guess which ones) I really laugh at the media creations of these people (both positive and negative) and how totally wrong they are. Also played with more Senators and Congressmen than I care to count or remember (the real scumbags in politics by the way IMO).

Until Tiger achieves world peace, politics will not be part of this discussion. Tiger can do whatever he wants and if people or his Sponsors don't think its right, they can voice their opinions in an attempt to change it. He's not had an easy year. He lost his father and who knows what happens behind the scenes. Could he play more? Sure he could but, that's ultimately his decision.

Exactly, that's the point I was trying to make earlier. (Although, the comment about Tiger achieving world peace did make me want to cut and paste all the quotes from Chuck Norris sites and substitute Tiger's name for Chuck Norris).

Also, by my calculation, since the 1996 season, Tiger has averaged 18.5 PGA events per year. Even with the death of his father, he played 15 this year. Is skipping 3.5 events in the year your father died really that big of a deal?

There are a million other reasons he might want to skip, which are none of our business: maybe he and Elin are trying to get pregnant; maybe he's not feeling well; maybe someone else is not feeling well. Would anyone criticize him if he'd come right out and said these things? Probably not. Now, would anyone else want to tell the whole world these things if it was you. Probably not.

Or maybe - just maybe, he's worn out from a season in which he: resurrected his swing; his father died; he won two majors; he won his 50th tourney; he tied his personal best streak for tourneys won; and he was part of a humiliating loss in the Ryder Cup. Is it really so hard to believe that he wants a couple of weeks off?

And as for him "owing" it to the PGA, I'm going to call Shenanigans on that one. Tiger brings more to the PGA every time he plays than it will ever bring to him. Does anyone think that if Tiger quite the PGA Tour and went to the European Tour that TV viewership or tourney attendance would stay as high? Would anyone argue that European Tour events would not get more TV time?

If nothing else, after 10 years of being a stand-up guy for his family, his sponsors, his fans, and the PGA, I think he is entitled to the benefit of the doubt.

Than again, what do I know anyway.

Well said. Great post. By the way thanks for setting me straight on the 18 majors that Gary Player has won. :)

I like to watch Tiger play just as much as the next person, but the main thing we have to remember is he can do whatever he wants.

We are so critical of what athletes do with their lives. So what Tiger wants to lay off and rest? Let him rest! It is just like the people criticizing Tiki Barber for retiring at the end of this season. What blast the guy for retiring? It is his body and he wants to be able to walk and do other things when he gets older, plus he has a passion elsewhere.

Basically, all I am saying is if Tiger wants to rest then let him rest. Like it was said before he has had a rough year and honestly we don't know what one day in the life of him is like. We all might think it is a cake walk, but we should all realize that it is nowhere near that.

Tiger DLIII, and Adam Scott are my favorite 3 players to watch, and I wish they all played more.

I stand by everything I have said.

I'll leave it at this, if you wish to continue anything pm me at your discresion. I will not waste my time talking to you on my own free will.

Oh and BTW isn't 8:42AM - 11:42 AM kind of early for a teacher to be posting on a golf forum? Anyways, I have to go tend to my horse.
