My Thoughts on Golf Week's Top 5 Public Courses in CT

LOI has a "member for a day" promotion, valid for Sunday/Monday, where you play both courses. The package includes overnight accomodations and other perks, but you're spending close to $400.

I got lucky and was able to play for $40 with my dad two years ago.

I have played 3 of the 5 on the list. WintonBury Hills I played this spring, so not peak conditions, but I wasn't overly impressed. The front side is very wide open,Course was in good shape for the spring, but it didn't wow me and I was told the greens can get ridiculously fast during the summer.

Oxford Greens had some of the fastest greens I have ever putt on. That was a nightmare, but a very neat golf course and a joy to play. Only problem was a slow pace of play which was disappointing.

Lake of Isles, can't remember which one we played, was beautiful. Scenic views on every hole. Fantastic course conditions. It is a great golf course in everyway.
