My swing - pick away at it

A couple things I think I need to correct. I have a tiny over the top move at the top of my transition. I think this may be caused by my "too inside" back swing arc.

I'd like to see more backswing extension, this also could be caused by too low of a backswing.

Thoughts?

have you worked a lot with a glove under your right armpit?

we do want that right arm to be nice and connected in the downswing.....but initiating it like that in the backswing creates a shoulder turn that's too flat. and you're probably limiting yourself by swinging that short and flat. i struggle with the same two things.

i think you could stand a bit taller to the ball. and then work on getting that left shoulder under your chin without worrying so much about keeping that right shoulder on your ribs. yes, it should stay out in front of your chest....but it doesn't have to be locked in there tight. the feeling of keeping your right elbow straight to the top of the backswing....or even throughout the swing is good for getting wider and not letting everything get so flat.

Yep, my initial impression as well, get taller. I see a little Kuchar in that swing which aint bad.

I dunno, I like it, its compact and you move well through the ball. I think you should clean up some of the extra movement (you overrotate your foot on the through swing, you come out of the shot a little and I think you would be well served to stand a little taller like others have said which will help you stay in your posture). I wouldn't worry about the over the top thing, you come over your backswing plane but you still attack the ball from the correct inside angle, lots of good players do this (sam snead, mickelson, spencer levin, webb simpson).

Overall it looks like a move that could produce a very solid player.

When I got serious with golf about 1.5 years ago, I was sporting a pretty serious slice. I used the towel under the armpit a ton which fixed the slice, but now my swing has stuck that way. Any drills or tips on how to change that?

Here's the video in Excelade for slow motion: http://www.excelade.com/video/view/QsB3RCmN

Do you all see anything in this swing that could produce miss hits toward the hosel? This is my biggest problem. I'll hit baby draws all day, but I'm missing the center of the face by about 1/4" EVERYTIME. It's kinda crazy, even when I stand farther away, or line the ball up to the toe at address, I'll still hit the inside of the face. Occasionally, it's really bad causing a hosel shot straight right.

Thanks for all the input.

You are a pretty good bit inside out, hence the draw. I would think that when your arms get off your body a little bit on the way through you would hit it close to the heel if not hit the dreaded S****. I would suggest some 9-3 swings with a towel under both armpits to make sure your arms stay on your body to alleviate that issue.

I have a disturbingly similar setup (bent, slightly right of target line) and backswing (flat and short), but I play well enough to be unsure if changing it would be worthwhile. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

I went to the range yesterday to try to work on standing taller and getting that left shoulder under my chin on the backswing. I struggled a bit, hitting behind the ball quite a bit, but the ball contact was in the center of the face. When I did strike it well, I was hitting my irons 10-15 yards farther.

I wonder if I should make this change in baby steps or stages. I think standing taller has helped my center of face contact but I think the longer backswing was a bit hard to control the first time out resulting in the inconsistent shots. I'm thinking I might try to engrain standing taller in my swing first, then work on the backswing.

Thoughts?
