Unfortunately people don't remember how bad he still drove the ball with that Tm driver. This was when EVERYONE said he needed to ditch the Nike driver, go back to Butch, blah blah blah....

If anyone ever wanted to know the definition of "droop" at impact, the photo of Tiger with the iron downrange at impact is one of the best examples I've ever seen. That's why tour pros need irons 2 or 3 degrees up. Awesome club control.

For as "fashion concious" as he is now what with better fitting shirts and all, you'd think that someone would let him know that the all white tennis shoes with custom made slacks is something that just doesn't work. Especially when you're not living in a retirement community.

 

Nike makes some nice spikeless "teaching" shoes, and they do Air Soles for dress shoe manufacturers...I just don't get it.

So you're saying the droop is good? ;)

 

It varies a good bit from player to player...in the realm of feel I suppose. One of the good take home points is that it demonstrates how important lie angle is dynamically at impact. If you take a straight edge to the screen of that pic, from the hosel, you can easily see a couple of degrees of deflection, but head is in a great parallel attitude...exactly what it should look like with the correct static lie angle.

 

I think that very few players realize how much shaft deflection a lot of the pros generate, and what it feels like. A lot of players I play with use S flex DG, and probably couldn't produce that amount of droop with R flex.

FIRST, I must say he's done great things in stength and conditioning....You can tell he looks a lot stronger and still maintains his flexibility.

That was a few years back when Tiger tried the supposedly "hot" TM with the Mitsubishi Rayon (ShaqX- but maybe someone can clarify) shaft. He had it sent back to Nike for testing because he couldn't believe the face on it.
