What is that Jim and Fluff?

Recommended Posts

How is this for disingenuous?

Jim Furyk and Fluff are both "SkyCaddie" guys. Furyk calls it an "indispensable" tool according to their commercial. Yet with the millions on the line out on the PGA Tour he turns to the accuracy of a laser rangefinder! Fluff says it is the "closest thing to a tour yardagebook". Well Jim Furyk has the yardage book which has the numbers from the laser that Fluff is using written in it. Not the numbers given by his"indispensable" SkyCaddie!

Every single tour player is using a laser. Anyone that says differently is being just as disingenuous as Jim and Fluff.

That's not a range finder though. that's a special device used to get Morse code signals from sea going vessels associated with the military, that give fluff his orders as an active black ops commando. J Furyk misses a cut? some despot is dying that weekend

Those are Fluff's new glasses. He is getting up there in age and just cannot see like he used to.

SkyCaddie SkyGolf has to throw their money for advertising, not updates to their products, fixes to their systems, etc.

I must be careful, as they could have me banned here (follow the money here folks as they advertise in Golf Digest), as they have already had done to others, and must keep that revenue stream flowing.

Great photo of what the Pro's use when there's money to be won.

He is just checking to see how far off the laser is from his GPS :drinks:

Anyone with half a brain can read about lasers versus GPS and know the relative precision of each. It's not a secret. GPS can still be a better tool for most players. How good or bad Sky Caddie is, I have no idea.

Actually that is an old photo taken way before he signed to become a Skycaddie endorser. The hats give it away. He has not been endorsed by Srixon for a couple years. Also any good caddie will use a laser with slope before a tournament to get how many yards the slope will impact the yardage he calculates. You cannot get that from a GPS rangefinder.

rare is the pro that doesn't use a laser... our Sunday group includes two former playing pros... one who rarely even looks at yardage and the other occasionally will ask what the skycaddie that one of us usually has says (maybe) 3 times a round... we know the par 3 distances and see many 12 index guys shooting the flags for 5-10 yard variations... when I played competitively I would take a skycaddie and a slope enabled laser out on practice rounds... get the info I needed and get it into my yardage book... today I get yardage to the front or middle and that's plenty for me... have an old skycaddie that is really beat up sg5 I think... it does it for me... have a couple of bushnell's around too .. gathering dust. I wish I could take yardage in feet and put the info to good use.. so Jim and Fluff are making a little money making claims that for most golfers are true.. good for them!

You'd be hard pressed to believe a top touring professional doesn't use a rangefinder to gather all his yardage book info

Still, it's a bad look for SkyCaddie. IMO marketing GPS devices should be like marketing the Srixon Q-Star, tell your average 15-20hcp golfer that it's the best product FOR THEM, and not to worry about the pros.

And how is an old picture taken way before they endorsed Skycaddie look bad?

There is no professional preparing for any golf tournament with anything on the line that is using a GPS to get his/her yardages. Look at the photos on this website on a weekly basis of that weeks tour event. Every single bag has a laser rangefinder attached to it......not a SkyCaddie, upro, or anything that involves GPS.

Most of us know a tour caddie will use a laser with slope before the tournament to get slope yardages. But why did you use a two or three year old photo and start a thread implying it was a current photo creating a conflict from a current endorsement?

They know Skycaddie is not as accurate or reliable as a laser. Maybe the real reason they are using a laser rangefinder other then the accuracy, simplicity, and ease of use, is because they forgot to download the course Furyk is playing, or maybe he forgot to pay his yearly membership fee, or maybe he forgot to charge it, or maybe he has one of defective SC units. Who knows, but nonetheless he is using a laser, and we can all agree that laser rangefinders are much more accurate.

BTW, Fluff is looking really skinny. Eat a burger Fluff!
