i just received the new FTi today ...it's just the head. draw type..9.5 claimed as tour proto..i'm thinking of putting ozix code 7 in it ..but do you guys have any suggestion of what shaft fits best with this awkward head? ;) :stop:

Man, wow! What a clubhead!!

 

Okay, this may sound a bit awkward, as I don't know if many people have heard of Graman shafts here, but I would go with the Graman UL 780. It's an incredible shaft! Simply unreal performance... 71 grams, 1.8* of torque, comes in cpm ratings instead of flex so that you can really dial it in... and it's the Limey!!

 

I would say it's one of the most stable, most smooth shafts on the market, with a ton of kick!

my swing speed with driver avg 106 mph , current shaft fuji SIX stiff 441/2 on TM r7 tp. current ball flight left to right7-10 yard right bias, avg carry 240 yard. current ball pro v1. hcp 9.7. i need more distance off the tee , so i try draw type on this huge head. see if it'll work if not i'll keep the lovely TM.

What is your current driver height and are you happy with it?

 

What is your tempo like?

 

What weight do you prefer in driver shafts?

 

I'm sure I'm missing some, even with all that info I don't know how high the FT-I launches so that can effect things as well.

 

What I would do is put a inexpensive shaft like a Proforce V2 65 Stiff (about 60 bucks) in it, go to a Launch Monitor to get more info and you could go from there. You might even stumble on a cheaper option that works well.

Mine has the Fujikura 686, and it's pretty darn solid.

Oh, and it's the one next to the FT-5! ;)

btw which feels better FTi or FT5?

I'm not too sure about the shaft fitting, since I don't know the specs. But I have a medium tempo, SS round 107, and it loads easily and feels good. A little like a Diamana Blue.

It measures out to just a tad under 46 inches though! D-2 weighted.

 

Which one feels better? They are both awesome!

The FT-5 is alot like the FT-3, but launches higher, and goes long!

The FT-i may launch a tad lower, but not much.

The difference is in the mishits, for sure. When I miss the FT-5, it's a little like other drivers, it just keeps going offline. But don't get me wrong, it's not alot offline, and it's still very forgiving, and missed fairways are just a few yards. But the FT-i is STOOPID straight! Still workable, left or right, but when I get a bad swing on it? Still goes straight!

And they're both just as long or longer than my last 2 or 3 drivers...
