Walt Disney World Golf

Heading down to Disney next week for a few days of golf. Playing Palm, Osprey Ridge & Lake Buena Vista. Anyone have any favorites or recommendations? Also kinda curious what kinda wildlife people have encountered on the Disney courses. Thanks!

I played ocean pines down there. Pretty nice course right off international drive. Not pricey and two good chipping practice greens. Very friendly staff.

I've seen deer, armadillo, wild turkeys, hawks and all kinds of water fowl. Here are some photos from Disney Golf courses. The armadillo one is not too good as it was getting dark out.

Disney's Magnolia and Osprey Ridge are my two favorites. If you make a late PM tee time this time of year, unless the weather interrupts, the courses should be wide open too. (and the rates are lower - be sure to check GolfNow)

There are some other really nice tracks fairly close to Disney and worth a visit if you have the time.

There are many others but these are some of my personal favorites. I only live about 40 minutes away from them so I am really lucky!

Wildlife? Have your camera ready! Wild hogs, deer, gators, snakes, dillos, turkeys, geese, ducks, turtles, manatees, and did I mention gators? They all fit right into our natural Florida golf atmoshere.

JUST BEWARE - a man was recently reaching for his ball on the edge of a lake and a gator jumped out of the water, grabbed his arm, and tried to drag him in. (6 foot gator) They are good at hiding and if you are going to be near any water on any course have a lookout watching for signs of trouble and never reach into the water - use a retriever.

Just this past week a buddy of mine had an 8 foot gator come up out of the water and attack his ball. (he texted me the images - incredible to say the least) He chewed the ball a little and then scampered back into the lake.

On land gators can be fast - sneaky fast. Just be aware and you won't have any problems.

Just played Magnolia today. Greens were really fast. Unfortunately, they start aerating next week when your down. LBV was poked last week but should be healed when you get down. I love Palm for the variety of holes and Osprey is typical Fazio whom I am a fan of. Play it now before Four Seasons takes it over.

There were not too many animal sightings today, temps are getting a little hot for them to be coming out during the day. The water table is really down too so the gators have probably moved on.

We're only golfing the Disney courses while we're down. The consensus I've gotten so far is that Osprey seems to be most peoples favorite. It's funny though b/c I've seen a few people say they think Osprey is the easiest & others say they found it very difficult.

Osprey has only a couple of holes that will reach out and bite you. But it is my second fav (to the Mag) and is about to DRASTICALLY change. Four Seasons is taking over and they are starting construction all over the place around the course. What was once a pristine, quiet track in the middle of Disney is likely to become just another Central Florida resort course. Great condition and all but LOTS of noise.

You are playing at the perfect time. Enjoy the peace and quiet!

And you still need to play the Mag while you are there - even punched greens at Disney are better condition that many other courses you will play elsewhere. They know how to keep a course up and you will not be disappointed. Would love to join you!

Man I'd love to play Magnolia but it's actually closed while we're there! What'd you think of Palm? Looks beautiful in pics, but I know they don't tell the full story lol

The Palm, like all Disney courses, is AWESOME! You won't regret playing it. LBV is a nice track too but Osprey is the second nicest IMHO.

Best part of The Palm is that it has some nice views and different areas of Disney.
