The Coked putter

Coke wouldn't do anything to it. It's Stainless Steel.

I had never done anything with coke before, so now I know. It does feel a little different now though, softer almost...as if the ball is sticking to the club. haha

I had an old Anser sitting around and decided to give the cleaning method ago, i used.

 

1: 3 hours in Coke

2: Heavy duty Scotch Brite pad

3: Worn old Scotch Brite pad

4: Metal polish Autosol

5: Brass cleaner.

 

The coke didn't really have a great effect, but perhaps this was because it wasn't tarnished too badly, however it did give the head a kind of misty finish. The Scotch Brite pads worked a treat and stripped it back to a bare finish, I think the Coke did help the process though. The metal paste is very corse and did a great job of removing the remaining discolouration (leaving the cloth black). The Brass cleaner is very light and seemed to bring out the shine, i was a bit concerned at one point as i thought i would end up with a very dull finish, but it worked out well for my first go

 

Not to everyones taste as I know people like to leave then to discolour, but just thought I would share my experience and pics

K what do I do with a semi rusted

How rusted is Semi Rusted. Is there any Pitting? If not, you can cokeit for 2 hours, use a scotch brite pad to even it all up. Go over itall with 000 and 0000 steel wool and then either seal it with a metal sealer or blue it using a product like Birchwood Casey GUN Blue.

 

Hard to say exactly what would be needed though without pics, but the steps Ijust listed should work perfectly as long as there is no pitting.

I coked it, and it looks great...showed a LOT more bag dings than I thought there were, but it does look great. I used a 0 for the first pass on the steel wool which got all of the rust off and then went back over with 0000 and I don't even think it needs the buffer. I put the metal polish/sealer on it.
