miura 5002 and miuraism ( miuragiken )

ive had a few sets of both of these irons over the last few yrs

and lost my miurasim 7 iron earlier this yr had to repalce it . i recieved the new one sat , i decided to drop the 7 iron from the 5002 set and play the ism 7i with the 5002 set..

the 5002 are a lot rounder, very similar in shape to the srixon pro 100 for those blade lovers out there. but a bit smaller and more compact, not by much ,but enough to the semi naked-semi trained eye to see the diffence .

the miuraism by contrast is more comapct again, thicker thru the blade with a straight line muscle at the back compared to a a more traditional looking arc of almost every other blade.

the feel at imapct is very similar in both miuras baldes , with the ism being a bit more robust and thicker. misshits are not as noticeable nor as punishable with the ism the comapct thickness of the ism sees to that. loss of distance is minimal ( in comp.) to other irons sets. loss of distance with misshits with the ism are, if u like very acceptable.

the straighter sole line of the ism makes the club a bit more unforgiving than the 5002 and i think a litte lower in flight. the ism i find to be quite a penetrating flight esp when the were with th x-100 shafts. had to really have a go at the club to get it up.

i shafted the new ism 7 with a NS modus tx X flex. bec miura giken wont sell heads only to anyone!

ive got so many NS proto shafts i want ot try this with ,but nope u have to get the whole culb done.

does my head in, why i dont know its rediculous really , adn they wont give u an answer why either.

(got my own thoughts on why.............., but ill kepp them to my self!)

they say their selection of steel for heads and the shaft selection and building processs is the best there is bar none, so they want the buyer to experience the full giken experience.

even tho i have acees to the the best builder there is over here..,

.. matters not.. i must get full set built by them.

the modus3 tx shaft and ism head are a perfect match.

originally had the ism with x100 which play very well but with no feel. dull, lifeless. great performacne , but i kinda like a bit of zing to my irons ,and the NS shaft certianly give this.... the other shaft id thoroughly recomend is the shimada tour, they suit isms perfectly as well.

the heavier TX X flex of the modus range makes these a very nice choice.

the 5002 are shafted with x100s so gaming them with the rogue 7i ism gave me a good sense of the differnce between the two in a game. i prefered the modus feel hands down

the 5002 are easier to hit tha nthe isms , they have a more rounded traditional japanese style.

with a bit more face progression than the average joe is used to seeing. which.. makes these easier to hit and easier to hit straighter...more often

ive become a fan all over agn of small FP

somehting non JDM club makers uttelry refuse to do.

the straighter sole the isms dont get caught in the deep roots on tougher grass like kaikuya (buffalo grass) either, these are great irons for the digger can crisp the ball with a very small divot with ease. not much ive hit of hard pan lies can compete with these

and if u play on lush coooooooooooooooooooooch grass , like they do here on most tracks then really ur granny can hit a tissue box with a broomstick on that stuff . so the catch cry that these are made for japanese conds ithink is gobbeldy gook, bec. i play in syndey on kaikuya grass and these things are awsome for it

the 5002 id consider a top all round blade , for pretty much anyone that wants to play baldes.

they are compact but not tiny, they are , awsome feeling heads , they are slightyl......,rounder, and a wee bit easier on the eye, definatly easier to play well consistantly . and slightly larger. , but make no mistake , they are NOT big....!

the5002 arnt quite as dramtic straight and square in the scoring irons as the isms, but in the long irons they are! , the 2 iron is almost impossibe to tell apart .

over all tho i think miuraism is best blade in the business. for good players( especially on tight lies)

and the 5002 just a whisper behind. just a wee bit more forgiveness.

top sticks both.

owari !
