clear coat for refinished putter?

Hopefully someone could possibly help me out with this... i have refinished a couple camerons recently but am running into an issue with "sealing" either the oil can, satin, or gun blue finishes i have done. a friend recently had one of the original newport 2's refurbed by SC and when he got it back, obviously it was immaculate, but i couldnt get over the clear glossy finish. i have tried several different clear coats on my putters but have had no success in getting such a clean look. they come out un-smooth and dull looking. does anyone have any ideas or proven methods for putting that final seal onto a newly refinished putter? i know i could simply continue oiling them, but i was looking for a way to get around that and have a solid gloss finish where rust will not be an issue.

I don't think there is a finish out there for that?
Possibly a clear polymer paint maybe?

The finish is not clear coat. It is simply beyond mirror finish before it gets the color applied. That is why it looks clear and smooth. It's virtually impossible for yOu todo it yourself

Try Caswell's sealer. Or you can get a silicone cloth from a gun supply store. It requires occasional maintenance, but it you like the current look of your putter, this is the way to go as opposed to spraying a clear coat over it.

I have refinished many putters and have not found a good clear coat finish. The Caswell's is the worst, it does not stay on and then looks awful when it starts coming off. My method is sand baby smooth, buff to high gloss, and then finish.
