The course was in horrific shape, and my cart died on the back nine. I walked the rest and came in to notify the manager, Paula (elderly woman, had egg salad all around her lips and on her cheek), about the situation, and she just kept pointing at a magic marker sign that read "no refunds"

The mother of all great course reviews.

This was my favourite haha:

"If I could have rated this zero stars I would have. You might as well go to your local park, cut a hole in the ground and just golf on that for free. The greens are non-existent. The handwritten sign at the desk said the greens are in "poor condition". This is an incredible understatement. The scenery is nice, but unfortunately I wanted to play golf, not go on a hike. There is a lot of beautiful scenery in MD you can go look at for free. It is borderline criminal to advertise this as a golf course and to actually take unsuspecting people's money. Last but certainly not least, the witch who lives in the clubhouse should be avoided at all cost. If she offers you an apple, do not eat it, it is probably poisoned. I am convinced she actually faked a phone call so that she would not have to talk to me. Perhaps instead of faking phone calls to avoid paying customers you should go grab a lawnmover, some Scott's grass seed, maybe a bucket of water or two and go fix your atrocious "golf course." Be advised that there are no refunds. She will steal your money, along with your soul, and (if you aren't careful) your first born child. Played nine, had a good time with my Dad joking about the course, but called it a day after nine and swung on up to Northwest's inside nine and played a real golf course. It should be noted here that I will play any dog track if the price is right, but we actually couldn't bear to play nine more holes of TG. Save your money for your own sake, as well as to let the owners know that they can't just keep this course open and cheat people out of their money"

Here's a course about 20 minutes away from me that I Have played many times (only because it's my closest option):

"Along with the golf the owners are a joke They are as unprofessional as it gets I guess the owners son didn''''t like the way I looked or something and charged me 10 dollars extra then my friends me not knowing this since I went to bathroom and out on course asked my friends how much they paid I went back upset. Jim the guy behind counter basically told me I was lying and if I didn''''t like it to never come back wow really
Then while we was playing they followed our group the whole time maybe thinking we was going to steal dune dirt who knows but the golf course is horrid and the workers owners are also
Can't wait till this dump shuts down and someone who knows how to treat people and maintain a golf course will buy it half price"

"Nothing more than a goat ranch with flags."

"The biggest joke in golf. dont waste your money."

"Course is in terrible condition with weeds in fairways and bald dirt spots in fairways. It seems maybe they have run out of money to maintain this course."

What's sad is most of these reviews are way too kind...

Found a few more:

"I rode along with my fiance while he played 9 holes...i could not believe the shape of this course!!!!!!!!!...First of all, the guy who "took" his money (the course should have been free!!!) was a total jerk!!!!!!!!!!....Second, there was no scorecard and no water along the course....of course, it's only 100 degrees outside!!!!!!!!!!!!....so who needs water right?....there's no way i would have used their restroom....not sure i could have opened the door due to the weeds calf high all around...speaking of weeds and tall grass....please visit my page on facebook for photos.....i mean really!!!!!!!!!!....the sandtraps were ridiculously overgrown with the stuff...it's a sandtrap...where's the sand people?????....then along the fairway.....same thing...tall grass....lost several balls in the fairway.....again, ridiculous!!!!....tons of hazards along the course....pipes overgrown with grass/weeds just welcomes a broken ankle......PLEASE----SAVE YOUR MONEY....play a course that cares about it golfers...not just about paying their mortgage or car payments....because they are obviously not using your money paid to work on this course.....I usually don't write reviews....but this course beckons for a F- score....thanks for reading...."

"Terrible golf course... I read the reviews, and still went, this is the worst golf course I've ever played on in my life. Good thing they are closing down, because they deserve to. I don''t even think you can categorize this as a golf course. I would be absolutely ashamed to own a course in this shape. I would rather play golf in my front yard. The design and scenery of the course are great and the greens were nice, however, it was in TERRIBLE shape. Spend some more $$ and go to Indian Hills, it's much, much better and worth the money and it's actually a "golf course"."

"I have played at this course since it first opened so I have seen it devolve from its promising stages in the beginning, to the horrendous pit that it is today. The fairways are covered with bushes of clover, not patches but full grown, ankle-high clover. Fully matured wild onions (hip high), bare rock and dirt patches. As if that were not enough, the tee boxes are also abysmal. The greens that the Blackberry Ridge website boasts as the best are far from it – they are fair at best. Cedar Crest, Old Fort, Henry Horton and perhaps event the VA Municipal course have better greens (certainly better fairways and boxes). Unless there are major, significant efforts and changes made, Blackberry Ridge will never see the day its greens are as good and healthy as Henry Horton, and that is unfortunate. As I said, it had a lot of promise and the layout is interesting (sometimes confusing how paths cross) and could be beautiful. It needs a complete overhaul to be playable. They have been offering an $18 rate which is still too much considering the frustrating conditions of the course. What good is it to have fair greens if you ball is lying on rocks most every lie once it leaves the tee box ?"

"we went and played this course this summer which came highly recommeded but we were sadly disappointed, first of all the price of $32 seemed a little steep, but also the course was very hard to judge, there were gullies and washouts on nearly every fairway, The grounds outside the greens were very unkept i felt like we were in Britain, Some good points were the greens they were very nice fast and little hard to judge and sometimes the pin placment was horrible but they were good greens but other than that they had the coldest water in their coolers. If you want to spend $32 on a weekday to play a course where you dont know if your ball is going to end up in a rocky gulley though you hit it straight down the fairway then by all means go to blackberry and enjoy the water."
