What a great golf experience

After much trial and error, I finally decided to go see Dana Upshaw at Dana Golf in GA. I went for a driver fitting and to analyze my swing with his high speed cameras and launch monitor. Wow is all I can say. I learned more about my swing in two hours plus time at home with my dvd than I could ever hope at the driving range.

He helped me a lot and I strongly recommend this service to anyone wanting to take their game to the next level. I hadn't been on a launch monitor since before having shoulder surgery and it quickly showed me exactly why I had lost distance. I assumed it was a lack of swing speed after complete left shoulder replacement. That really wasn't the case at all. The monitor quickly showed that with my 7 iron, I was setting up with a closed stance, open clubface, and all in all adding 16° of loft to the club. Even swinging that club at 96mph was only resulting in 158 yards of carry and almost 7000 spin resulting in a total distance of 155. The driver was even worse and I quickly saw many power leaks and swing flaws. I was coming over the top, casting the club, and releasing almost a foot behind the ball resulting in only 105 mph at the ball and very dependent on timing. After practicing routing the club back down on the proper path, we instantly found another 10mph but even with the driver, I'm adding loft and launching at over 14° so I have more range time coming but its great to know exactly what to work on while I'm there.

Mr. Upshaw was quick to point out that on my 7 iron, at impact it was basically the loft of a pw or gw and almost 30 yards short of what it could be. That is much longer than even before my surgery which was 175 yards with the 7. The smash factor was still pretty good with my irons but way off with the driver which explains why I wasn't getting the distance I thought I should. I didn't expect to completely overhaul my swing but after seeing the data that is what needs to be done. Without the monitor, I would have never known. Great service! It was very reasonable. $95 I believe.

You just went for am amazing fitting session and you're not sure what it cost??? If it is as you say around ..$95....that is less then $50 and hour....has to be the cheapest fitting in the world. I know that about 12 years ago he was charging $100 for a consultation.

I never said in my post that the session with him was all I purchased. I didn't ask him what each thing costs. It didn't really matter. I spent less than $100 and was there for 2 hours. It didn't matter what it cost. I would have paid whatever he charged. I know what I charge and someone will either pay and get services or not. Something like this is way more important than buying a new club yet people will drop $400-$500 on a stick and complain about the cost of a monitor session. I will be going back and again, it doesn't matter the cost. It can be $95 or $950, the experience and video analysis are worth the cost. I ended up not needing a driver fitting as mine was very close. Instead, we worked on aoa. People with ill fitting equipment may need more and cost more. My clubs simply fit me. Many people either play to stiff, too soft, or wrong loft. By his monitor, heavy stiff and 8.5° was fine from 106-115mph so no equipment change was needed.
