Foremost golf - Pro Tour X3 & X4

I found an X4 on the course and put it into play for a laugh. I play off a 2 on a good day.

Fantastic ball - has a cast urethane cover and a nice feel. It reacted extremely well to high spin shots (low SW under a tree to a tight pin) and spun as much as a Pro V on short irons.

Distance with the driver was comparable to Pro V.

Biggest surprise was durability. Very light scuffing on a dry summer course (down under NZ).

Apparently - according to the grapevine - they produce wilsons FG tours.

Worth a look, although they may be difficult to get a hold off in the states.

Didn't realise Aussies still made equipment....I recall a guy in our club had a PGF persimmon 2 wood for years. And our Pro used to sell Prosimmon when they made half decent kit.

I bought two dozen of the foremost X3 with the intent of reviewing them informally here.

I play between 2-4 and have done for years. My strength is the driver and putting. If my short game goes well I can beat par.
Ball flight is mid to low and high spin.

Favourite balls over the last three years are: Pro V1, Z Star XV, Z star X, Cally Tour i(s). I have gamed all these balls for at least a season and share similar views to most of the ball ho's on here - the Pro V is an excellent all round ball but can hurt a little in the wind. The Z star XV is very close to the V1x in performance, and I have hit my longest drives with this ball this year. The Cally i(s) is a good ball but feels clicky. It is excellent in the wind.

The foremost "pro tour X3" has been compared extensively, alongside the v1 and xv, on the same course, at the same time.

To be honest, I really didn't think this ball would surprise. It's name is quite ridiculous. However, it has performed so well in comparison to the srixon and titleist, that I think many WRXers would like this ball.

FEEL: Off the putter and wedge, it is more Pro V1x 2011 than I could care to differentiate. I found the xv slightly firmer, with the cally leading the firmness off all clubs. On a flushed 7 iron, (A12 idea pro, KBS tour) the feel of the X3 is excellent.

DISTANCE: About 5 Yards shorter than the XV for me off a driver. Near as next to no difference anywhere else. Pro V1 was similar to the X3.

CONTROL: This is where the Foremost lead all three for me. The cast urethane cover reminds me of the old maxfli revolution, and it does discolour slightly in the sun. I played one x3 for 54 holes and although it scuffed up, turned a little yellow, it still performed admirably, much like a beat up Pro V1 does. The srixon and Cally are less durable.

More importantly, the X3's ability in the wind is fantastic. I consider myself a good wind player, I like to hit low fades off the tee as a stock shot and draws with my mid irons. After a slightly cut drive, I got used to seeing the X3 start fading, and expected it to keep fading like the Pro V1. However, at the top of it's flight and during descent it would simply stop fading and "straighten up". Quite strange, but overall, a ball that was quite forgiving of mishits, fading and drawing less than the pro V.

With short irons, I was equally impressed. It behaved like the titleist. I ripped a sand wedge back 15 feet after carrying it past the pin, hitting it off a tight lie. Otherwise, hop and stop.

In conclusion, I am going to game this ball in my competitions at the start of this year, having 5 sleeves left. I have complete confidence in it and for the price, it is an absolute bargain. However, it may be difficult to get in the states.
