Callaway Tour Blue refinish

After a rather unfortunate incident on Sunday involving my Tour Blue TT3 and a cart path, I decided that it was time for the blue to go. I was never a huge fan of the color in the first place.

 

I was a little apprehensive, not knowing what I would end up with after bead blasting off the blue finish. I must say that I'm pretty pleased with the way things turned out....particularly given how pissed I was on Sunday when I watched it skid across the pavement! :) All is now forgiven...lol.

That is damn nice. I really like the TT3. If its not to much trouble...can you comment on how the TT3 feels and rolls.

The weather hasn't been overly cooperative of late, so I haven't gotten as many reps with the blue (can I still call it that?) as I'd like. I'm coming off a SC PP Mid, and I must say that the Cally has been a big surprise. Feel is great on the long putts, and it's a no brainer on the five footers. I sunk two 25'+ on Sunday, and it's been awhile since I have been able to say that.

 

I did change to a lighter grip, the GP Pro Only because of it's light weight. The stock grip is HEAVY, making the head feel pretty light.

Just make sure you pop the medallion off the bottom before blasting away. I didn't, and had to work to salvage it.

I always felt the Blues were a little hot off the face, sort of like proplats (vs normal carbon steel) but even hotter.

 

I had a hard time controlling the speed on slow greens. I wonder if taking the finish off helps.

IIRC titanium with tungsten inserts at the bottom. That is why they were originally so expensive.

Yeah, I just looked. 99% titanium w/ tungsten inserts. Dang. LOL Would also look pretty cool in a shiny III Black Finish...

Yeah, there is some type of red epoxy under it. Might be a challenge to pop it off without damaging it...maybe a little heat will do the trick.

You could also place some lead tape over the emblem before blasting it. :)

See..that's why I like you and this board. LOL You come up with a simple solution while here I am thininking of complex ways around the problem. Doesn't hurt that it's 2:55 in the morning and I have to wake up for work in 30 minutes. LOL Wait...that means I should be asleep. Oh Brother this is not going to be a fun day. LOL

It's metal. I like the lead tape approach too. I just planned to lightly brush over it, but instead managed to blow the whole thing off and curl it into a ball in the process. :)

 

Oh...and the small chrome Calloway emblem on the front is plastic, I think.

I got a little time on the practice green yesterday with it. I didn't notice any difference in feel...but then again I actually love the feel of this putter.

 

It's definitely more pleasing to my eye though!
