I've got a new to me Bushnell V2 coming and I was wondering if the aftermarket silicone covers are worth it or not? While looking for used ones I noticed they do show some bumps and bruises and it looks like the cover would help.
Thanks!

Do you like the V2? I got one for Christmas but have not used it on the course yet. Seems simple to use and I love the size and weight of it but wanted some realistic feed back. I just ordered a silicone cover to protect it as well.

Actually, I'm in the same boat as you. I'm in Michgan so golf here is still 3 months away so I haven't had a chance to use it on course yet either.
I have tried it out in the neighborhood and its pretty good at picking up my neighbors front door and a few trees though.

I'd get a silicone cover. A red or orange one. Not just to protect (which it does help), but to stand out. You'd be surprised how much the red cover has helped remind me to not leave it in the golf cart when I'm done with a round. Or cart path only days and you may forget about it in the grass.

If you walk and don't ride, I personally don't see much value in the cover.

You'll love the V2. It's accurate and you'll be pin hunting for pins you have no business going after.

The V2 is very nice. The only complaint I ever had was that I sometimes had a hard time keeping a steady grip using it. Being in my 50's now, I have found that bracing myself against the cart helps keep the hands from being so shaky. The V2 does lock on to pins quickly and scanning with it is a breeze. I'm sure you'll love it!! As far as a cover goes, I would get the skin for it as the gray part rubbed off pretty easy. Doesn't hurt the unit at all, just the resale value should you choose to go with something else down the road.

IMHO, the V2 is the best bargain in rangefinders when you can find it on sale or at a discount. I have a Patriot that came with 2 sleeves and I use the white one. Works fine, but taking it in/out of the case, you do have to adjust the sleeve because it get all c0ck-eyed from friction with the case. I'm pretty good about not dropping my stuff, so I really could go without the sleeve.

I'd agree that a two-hander is steadier, but to keep your shot with one hand steady, I've learned to stick my thumb out back towards your face and use that as a support point against your cheek/where ever it ends up and that will steady my shot. Kinda hard to describe, but it works.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
