Miura 501 bounce

Can those that have played these irons tell me about the sole grind. I am a digger and want to make sure that these have a decent grind for me. It is between these and the MP64`s right now. I know mizuno is good for me but I would like to get the Miura`s. I am just worried that they may dig too much. Thanks guys in advance.

I have found Miura's to fit 'pickers' and not so much for 'diggers'. The leading edge of 501's is straight and has a tight radius. You can order custom grinds on Miura's, but it take 4 to 6 weeks to get and they cost a little extra. Good luck!

The Miura 501's actually have more bounce than the MP-64's I'm a digger and I love the feel of all the MP line's but they dig for my swing. The 501's ( which I no longer have ) were much better through the turf for me.

I had the 501s for about 3 months. I'm more of a sweeper / picker and found that when i hit them, every shot felt a bit thin. I tried the 64s recently for their lower bounce. 64 PW has a 6 degree bounce versus the 501 at 10 degrees. I found the 64s much easier to hit and everything was more solid. I ended up selling the 501s and ordered the 64s. If you are a digger, the 501s will probably have better interaction than the 64s. As a side note, the 64s were the first mizuno irons i've hit and I found them much softer than the miuras. So personally, i would say the 64s win over in feel for me.

From everything I have read, I would spend the extra money to get the sole grind to lessen any chance to dig. I know for MY money, I would do that.

One thing that i find really interesting about miruas, is that even with a bunch of bounce i still find them to favor the sweeper over the digger. Im not an expert of sole grinds and i would assume that this has a large amount to do with this, so if i were you id contact mirua and take your questions directly to the source.

I switched from MP-60's to miura 501's - the 501's were more forgiving and actually less digging than the 60's - i played the mp-60 for 8 years before this switch and i was totally blown away by the 501's - when i hit a occasional fat shot with the 60's i lost a lot of distance compared to the 501's
