Reverse Overlap Grip for Full Swing

I recently had a injury to my left index finger. Puncture wound to the big knuckle. The only way I can swing now is with this grip. Tried it today on the range with pretty darn good results.

 

Anyone else used this grip full time that would share candid feedback. I am a 8-9 handicapper and felt today it helped keep my swing shorter and more efficient.

I used it for a few months because I have some tendonitis in my left arm. I found that your right hand is more dominant with this grip and had to change my technique otherwise I would hit low hooks. However, whatever works is what's good.

I switched to this from a 10 finger grip to help keep my hands more in sync. Same grip used with the putter. Very helpful for me in eliminating a wrist pop, especially when putting.

Thanks guys, I have had some right hand ring finger issues since playing through and injury a few years back. When I hit heavy shots with the Vardon overlap, I tweak that finger often. This grip may alleviate that issue as well.

Been using the reverse overlap for some years with all my clubs. Arthritis in the knuckles of my fingers makes it impossible to use a regular overlap not to mention interlocked. I am quite used to it and my fingers/hands fit together very well with it. Now keep in mind that I am age 76 (today!).

I've played around with it a bit, it helped me when I was tugging early with the left hand and bottoming out the club behind the ball. You can definitely play golf with it.

Very interesting topic. When I put my hands on the club this way it feels great. Then again I am a grip ho. Started with the 10 finger (carryover from baseball), then moved to the interlock, overlap and finally double-overlap. I chip and putt with a huge reverse overlap - left index finger pointing straight down - so that's probably why it feels natural. Looking forward to hitting a few balls like this.

Most secure grip I have ever played with. I'm using it now. It is enhanced by pushing your right palm well up on your left thumb. Very solid without squeezing tightly.

I have played with a reverse overlap grip a fair amount. It seemed to work pretty well. I have tried pretty much every grip possible at one time or another and most of them worked to some extent. Well, I really did not have much luck cross handed but maybe I gave up on it to soon...
