Shipsticks

Has anybody used this before? I think I'll use it to ship clubs to Bandon Dunes as it seems like a good service. Also, has anybody shipped using a soft sided travel case as that is the only one I have.

Looks like UPS.....whats the attraction? Do they have some kinda intervention deal if your package is lost in transit ? FedX advertises a similar service all the time on TV so how good is that service? No matter which service, you can count that your bag will be tossed around hard and beat on. Hard cases are a bit of a pain but that's the way to go when shipping as you will not have to worry about the hassle of a hard case in a rental car/van.

Anyone else have input on this? I have some meetings in Chicago and don't want to drag my clubs through subways ect. Might just ship them to my final destination.

Worked great for Bandon Dunes although as somebody else said I'm not 100% sure what they offered over just using UPS. I guess it was really easy using their shipment placement service. Both me and a buddy shipped hte clubs and they were picked up at our house by UPS and delivered right on schedule with no problems. It cost about $65 a bag for one way.

[size=3]Inclement weather (a foot of snow) in the NE caused me to reach out to Shipsticks the weekend before shipping my clubs to Florida for a golf trip. They warned that shipping could be 1-2 days delayed, and only advised me to upgrade to 2 day air for $100 more per bag. I explained that it doesn’t make financial sense so I’ll cancel the shipment and fly with my clubs. Via email they refused to waive the cancellation fee so I called. A rep agreed to do the right thing and cancel at no charge. Then I got another email telling me they won’t waive the fee. When I called back to get to the bottom of it, I was again refused the waiver and was told I was ‘classy’ for letting them I know would write a review. I’m sure they do fine under normal situations, but they took my money and treated me like a jerk. I just wanted my clubs to be waiting for me without paying an extra $100 to ensure that. Geez.[/size]

Wow, that's great. We can't meet our contracted delivery date so you need to give us a couple hundred bucks extra. If you don't want to do that we'll just keep your money anyway. Lovely business plan.

That throws up a major red flag for me.. I thought they were supposed to be the "safe alternative" to flying with your clubs, if they can't get them there the date promised and try to charge you extra is nuts. If that's a problem and they have to upgrade the service in order to get your clubs to you on time, they should already have this built in the cost. No one would ever realize and they wouldn't look bad in situations like this.

Remember that Shipsticks is only as good as the UPS and Fedex couriers they use -- not like Shipsticks has its own trucks. BUT I used them a few weeks ago for a return trip, UPS tracking info showed a warehouse bottleneck threatening to delay through the weekend -- and my call to Shipsticks resulted in getting UPS to deliver after all. I am usually a skeptic, but it was pretty clear that Shipsticks used better leverage to push/prod UPS than I wld have had as an individual consumer.
