i did take advantage to walk the course and watch an amateur tourney that was held there a few years ago. might be the last time that happens unless another public event is held the works or member (who might be on etc and sees this!) would so kindly invite me

Summer in Florida. It will be hot and humid. Highs around 90 degrees. Chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Usually best to get an early tee time no later than 9AM to avoid the heat and rain. I'll let others chime in on must play courses. I'm sure you'll like the the King and Bear at the World Golf Village.

Sawgrass Stadium or Valley.. Courses down in St. Augustine world golf village are pretty nice too but a bit $$$..
Ponte Vedra Inn and Club is pretty nice.

A lot of the courses in the Jax area are private so they are tough to get on unless you know a member.

Timuquana has a one day event every year put on by the FSGA. It's $80 but you have to join the FSGA, which isn't that much. This year's tournament is on July 29th, you still have time to sign up. You can get on to some nice courses playing in the one day tourneys.

Both TPC courses
Both World Golf village Courses
Palencia

These are some of the nicer courses in the area

The Stadium course is closed for some major maintenance right now not sure when it will reopen

Stadium course is back open as of today.
Palencia and Amelia National are private, but can get on a few different ways. WGV is good, Slammer took a beating from alot of rain the last few months but they should bring it back up to speed. Stay away from Cimmerone and Ponte Vedra Golf and Country Club.

I'm living in Chicago currently but I played deercreek when I was down over players weekend. Nice course, I really enjoyed it. I played with my fathers financial person for the first time.

Rumor has it that Deer Creek is public during the week? Can anyone confirm?

Also, North Hampton is in good shape right now. I've been practicing out at Windsor Parke during the week and the greens look OK, but by Mid-August they are usually baked. Also, the Amateur Match Play is at Timiquana on August 3, so that would probably be another good opportunity to go out and watch some good golf out there...if you can't play in the FSGA one day out there.

Deercreek is fully private as of Apr 2013. They open to guests of members and tournament/event play.
