My 2007 Bag

Titleist

Here's my bag for 2007:

Driver and 3 wood have UST ProForce V2 stiff shafts (76g and 85g respectively)
Hybrid, irons and wedges all Dynamic Gold S-300 shafts.

Only potential changes will be when the D1 / D2 are released, and when a set of 680's I've been waiting on arrive.

I actually have four Vokeys like this. They started out as Oil Can Spin Milled's. Here's the deal:

 

You need acetone and a very fine grit sanding pad (it's actually a pink pad you can get at Home Depot or Lowe's).

 

I place a small amount of acetone on the pad, and just begin sanding down the wedge. It starts slow, but then really starts to come off as you add acetone and move around on the head. It takes about half of the pad to do one wedge, as the pad slowly disentigrates.

 

I have heard that some people soak them in acetone, but I have heard from those same people that on occassion they have ruined the ferrels. You have to be very careful not to get the acetone on the ferrels.

 

I have also heard that soaking them in Coke will remove the oil can finish also.

 

Once you are finish using this method the wedges will almost appear to have a satin finish. I maintain the finish by sanding off any rust that might begin after three or four rounds. Only takes a couple of minutes, and I consider it part of cleaning my clubs.

 

The pictures don't do them justice...they are incredible looking wedges in person, and I get a lot of comments on them.

I find the 905R to be a very solid driver, and I have used Titleist drivers dating back to the 975 series.

 

The UST V2 shaft is a great match for this head. I have several very good players I play with that have the same setup. I actually had ordered a custom 905R with the 86g V2, but sold it to one of them. He just kills it!

 

I started to look into a reshaft to try to get more "feel", and the guy I was working with asked what I wanted. I said a little more feel, as the V2 feels somewhat boardlike.

 

He then asked how my ballflight was....I said it was excellent, as the V2 allowed me to keep the ball down (I'm a high ball hitter; very high!).

 

He asked how my control was, could I work the ball....I said it was great, very consistent.

 

He asked how the distance was....I said excellent, as long as any club I'd ever played.

 

He then looked at me, and said "So you're keeping the ball flight down and controling your driver, which indicates that your spin rate is probably good, and you're getting the distance you want. But you want a shaft with more feel?"

 

I looked at him, and said "Point well taken....thanks!" End of discussion. Great club!
