Lees Summit MO - Looking for players

Just seeing if anyone out there in the Lees Summit MO area has any suggestions for a course they play normally? I start a new job September 30th and will be living by Blue Springs Lake. It looks like there are a couple of courses within a few miles (Lakewood, Stone Canyon, Drumm Farm, Winterstone) to name a few. Just seeing if anyone can offer any info on memberships or if anyone plays in a normal group at any of these? If so will anyone would be playing at the end of September? I have a normal group of guys that I play with here and its going to be hard not having that get away every week. I like to keep my golf serious but not to serious, definitely would be up to have a couple beers after the round!! If anyone out there has an opening let me know? I actually called them and ask about membership rates and the gentleman told me to wait till next year because they were going thru some changes with management. Do you play there?

Stone Canyon is where you want to go as far as public courses. Heard nothing but good things from locals. Swope Park I've heard is good and I'm a bit disappointed in myself that I've never played there. I've heard Drumm Farm has some real circus greens. I'm over on the KS side and don't venture over into enemy territory very often.

Yeah reading reviews and it seems Stone Canyon is the "nicest" course. I will just have to get out there at the end of this month and play them all and make a decision for next year. Stone Canyon has the "dynamic pricing" which seems pretty good, it was $29 to ride yesterday. I'm coming from the Chicagoland area where everything is more crowded and expensive....

I am in Overland Park and not Lees Summit, but would be open to play if you're interested. I am a member at a club in south KC area, but will play just about anywhere. Stone Canyon is a good track so long as you don't get stuck behind a bunch of first timers. PM if you're interested.

I live in OP (Overland Park, which is on the KS side). I have played just about everywhere there is to play in KC public and private. Stone Canyon is a very good public course. Actually if I lived closer I would probably join there(they offer year to year memberships). Of the 4 courses you listed Stone Canyon is far and away the best. Went to Winterstone last year before I was a member of a club and walked off and asked for a refund because it was that bad. They claimed to have put the wrong "chemical" on the greens and the first green was down to the dirt and sand in most spots. That was all I needed to see and turned back around. Drumm Farm has just gone private I believe and so I am not sure how that is going to work out. Not sure if they are going fully private or semi private. I think they have some great holes and it is worth a round as well.

I play out of Brookridge on 435 and Antioch.

Lakewood is the only private course, from the list you mentioned. Stone Camyon is a great design, but has been in receivership for a couple of years. It is in really poor shape right now. Winterstone is a good course, but did lose a few greens last year. I haven't played there this year. Blue Springs is an older course. It was private until two years ago. It's a short fun course to play.
