Am I on the right track? Decent angle of the ball

Recommended Posts

I was hitting on the trackman with my instructor the other day, and he was looking at the numbers, and had a couple of concerns.

Bring my launch angle down a little and also my decent angle.

LA was 15-17* and decent was 45*. He would like to get me to 12-15 and 39.

Currently have an F11 8.5* with the Aldila voodoo svs6 stiff shaft. We are testing out 2 other shafts that he recommended.

NV green stiff and X.

Swing speed is usually 105-108, but I can top out at 112. I do not get any roll on my drives, usually hits and backs up a foot, due to the angle that it is coming down at.

Does it sound like I am on the right track with the shafts or should I look at others?

Really need more numbers to understand what he is seeing.

What is your ball speed and spin rate? It sounds as though spin may be a little high, but without knowing ball speed and if you are hitting the center of the face or not, it's hard to tell what you may need.

I dont have any numbers saved from the NV stiff shaft. Today I got on the monitor with the NV X stiff. It felt like I really had to go after it to get it to perform. The numbers all are in the area of 110 SS with 160 BS. For the most part the numbers I was trying to get better (launch angle, decent angle) really did not change much at all.

The SVS6 stiff is going back in, until I can find a better option to try.

Hi. The VooDoo is a great shaft. Probably won't find an option to out perform it.
Your smash factor is 1.45. So where on the face are you hitting? I'd like to see a more on center impact.
What is your AofA?
I'm going to offer a suggestion that will get a lot of comments.
But give it a try. Move the ball away from you 1 inch and back 1 inch. Assuming your right handed, move the ball back toward your right foot, from where you normally play it.
See what this does to your launch angle numbers.

If going from the svs6 to the x stiff nv didn't change your numbers "much at all", it's unlikely that any shaft change will have enough effect to give you the launch numbers you are trying to get. It never hurts to try (as long as it's not costing you anything) but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Given you are already using an 8.5 head, your best chance to get the desired numbers is with a swing or setup change. Two possibilities is that you may actually need to reduce your AoA or you may be have your ball contacting the head too high up on the face.

Sorry, I had forgotten about this thread. I tested the SLDR stiff tp and all of my problems are solved.

The plain stiff did not work and the X stiff didnot help, but the Stiff TP was just right.
