Seattle Golf

I am going to be in Seattle the 15-20th. I know I am going to play Chambers Bay, just wondering if anyone had suggestions for others?

Like to play a couple more round in the area.

Home Course is near by Chambers and not bad and should play drier then most as we have had a while lot of rain.

I will also suggest White Horse, which is a ferry ride across the water.

Nothing good close in, so be prepared to drive

Gold Mountain, Olympic Course in Bremerton. Requires a pleasant ferry ride.

Chambers Bay is a great course and very tough walk. Seems like the ground doesn't give.

Sahalee was my favorite (shot the best there)
Members at Aldarra is another great course
Salish Cliffs is another good one
and New Castle is a Great public course with great views

Sahalee and Aldarra are private, so you'll have to know someone or have your pro call the golf shop and set up a time to play if you go that route. Salish is probably the best open to the public course I've played in western Washington - and to echo above Newcastle has amazing views, but the course is just mediocre.

A fun course with good views for really cheap is actually West Seattle. It's a muni, but it's better maintained than most city courses, and the layout is such that if it were a private course it would likely be one of the 3-4 best in the state. Rounds can be a bit slow, but the views on the back 9 of downtown are pretty awesome.

Thank you for the input. Unfortunately I am not a member of a upscale private course so Sahalee will have to remain on the wish list. (dang I like VJ and would love to play there)
I have time to drive a bit, so out there is not a big deal. I will be staying in Bellevue a couple of days then will be a few more minute south. How about the University course? I haven't heard anyone say much about it?

I love Washington National (University Course) - probably one of my favorite courses, and the 3 finishing holes are awesome (big risk / reward holes). The only reason I didn't mention it is because for the price ($80+ depending on the time of year) you can play better courses. Salish for instance is marginally more expensive and is a much better course. That being said, I would place Washington National head and shoulders above West Seattle, so if you don't mind the more expensive green fees, then play National - faster pace of play, better winter conditions, and a super fun layout.

Full disclosure: I'm an avid husky fan, so I might be naturally predisposed to like the course more than others

Another place you might think about is Suncadia in Roslyn, WA. There are 3 courses in Suncadia, 2 are public (Rope Rider and Prospector) and 1 private. Prospector is a Arnold Palmer course and Rope Rider is a Jacobsen Hardy course. Drive time is about 1 hour East of Bellevue. Set the cruise control at 75 MPH, no traffic It might get windy but should stay rain free.

+1 for the Home Course. Washington National is also good. Newcastle does have some nice views but is way overpriced IMO.

Looks like Wash Natl 1st day, then Probably Redmond GC. Last Will probably be Chambers. Although what a bummer three holes have
"alternate greens" I was so looking forward to playing there, now some of the thunder is gone.

Interested to hear how you enjoyed your trip. I remember were managed to avoid rain, but hopefully the fog monster that's been living here the past 2 weeks didn't intrude on your golf too much.
