Swing Help Please!!!! (1.2HC)

So I've spent the summer getting back into golf after about a five year layoff from high school and some college golf (back injury). I've been able to play some really good rounds and golf and finally have a short game, got down to a 1.2hc believe it or not lol. The thing I am really struggling with is consistency with my driver. I finally saw my swing on video and boy was it ugly to me! I look so flat and underneath the plane on my backswing. I stuggle with pull hooks or big blocks right. I know my tempo can be too fast and ruin timing, looks like i have a terrible transition and poor flexibility! All the videos of good swings i watch the players seem to have their hands much "higher" at the top. I really have no problems ever hitting the ball on the sweet spot (which really sucks when i hit it bad just makes it further off).

 

Any help/critique would be honestly appreciated!!

The high hands you think you're seeing are actually great extension. The wider your arms get, the higher they appear in 2D dtl. Think of the body like a tether pole, as you pivot, your arms should extend away from your body, momentum will raise them up all they need to be. If you paused at the top and looked in a mirror, you'd see your hands appear much higher in the reflection than your own eyes see it looking down your arms. All you see is arms extended in front of you(with hands somewhere in front of the right shoulder).
Your arms travel too far around your body. They must stay out front! Your release looks good from what I could see. I bet you will see instant improvement once you get what I'm talking about. It will probably help center your balance too, is it looks like your weight transfers a touch too much toward the ball. I think this because your right leg starts to peel up before you've reached impact. Most great players are still planted until momentum brings the head and heel up. And when it does come up, it's more of a roll from the inside of the foot (weight comes off the outside of the foot) not heel to toe.

A little under plane on the takeaway has your shoulders turning too flat. From there, that right elbow gets behind your right hip on the ds and you have to extend a little into the ball.

Agree with Bridgestone. I think most of that is easily fixable by just moving away from ball and bending over a touch more.

Thanks for the replies guys. I actually submitted my swing to swingfix and the pro said basically exactly what you guys said. That said, I worked on bettering my posture, keeping my right foot down through impact and getting my hands up on Sunday for a few hours and was hitting the ball so good. Can't wait to play now. Thanks again
