Irving King Woods and Irons

Greetings from an FNG.

 

I have a complete set of Irving King woods (1-4) and Irons (2-pw) that I inherited from my father who passed away in 2004. I can remember him playing with these clubs in the early 60's when I was a child. In his day he probably had a single digit handicap. He may have had them in the late fifties. He kept them until his death. He had them reconditioned prior to his death so for all practical purposes they are brand new. They are still in the bubble wrap. My question for the wise sages of the group....what do I do with them? Sell them, donate to a golf museum, hang them on my office wall or use them? Steele shafts are hard on my elbows and tendinitis is tough to get rid of at my age. I like my graphite shafts. If I get rid of them I'd prefer they go to someone that appreciates them for what they are.

 

I can post photos if need be.

I would keep them in a nice period golf bag in your office and play them once a year on your dad's birthday.

Would love to see a pic ... Irving King woods were supposed to be pretty good from what I've heard.

Keep them. Blade's idea is great. They made freat woods, from what I've seen. I dont recall ever having seen Irving King irons. Please post some photos.

I'd definitely keep them. Play them on your Dad's birthday and display them in your office or somewhere, as Blade Junkie suggests. Just looked at a Irving King wood at Clubs of Distinction, your set must be fantastic. Pass them down someday, they should be kept in the family or to someone close who will appreciate them.

I regret selling my valueless half set of Wright and Ditson Bee Line pyratones that my Dad bought for me for $ 3 back in 1967. I was lucky enough to find a closely resembling Walter Hagen set in 2005, the year my Dad passed away. I paid $ 20 for them, the same as I sold the original set in 1976. I play them occasionally, and refer to them as "Dad's" clubs.
