Golf Courses you like to play in Minnesota? I haven't played much golf in my homestate other than golf courses in central MN and the Brainerd Lakes area. My Minnesota course list is pretty slim

 

Eagle's Landing Golf Club - Fort Ripley, MN

Oak Hill Golf Club - Rice, MN

Wapicada Golf Club - Sauk Rapids, MN

Rich Springs Golf Club - Cold Spring, MN

Eagle's Trace - Clearwater, MN

Territory Golf Club - St. Cloud, MN

Little Falls Country Club - Little Falls, MN

Maddan's Pine Beach West - Brainerd, MN

 

I know weak right.

I've played most of my golf in Southern California and the Southern Oregon Coast.

 

I really want to get out to Grand View, Wilderness, and Giants Ridge. I've never played the Classic but I heard its a little over rated. I don't have much of a desire to travel down to the Twin Cities unless there is REALLY GREAT golf to play. I've always heard good things about Pebble Creek in Becker, MN but never made tee time. What do you guys think about golf in Minnesota?

There is a bunch of good private courses in the Twin Cities. Willingers south of MSP is a great track. Deacons Lodge Part of Grand View Lodge is a great track.

Maddens is nice but very overrated.
There is some great golf to be played in the twin cities so don't be shy. Deacons is awesome, and I love to play up at craguns (not bobby) when I'm home.

What are some of the hardest public tracks in the cities?

A few thoughts for you

Hard Courses: This is assuming you play the tees suited for your game. These get easier if you play from 6300 yards.
- Rush Creek
- Baker National
- Chaska Town Course

Other Good Public Courses:
- The Jewel (My favorite public in MN, but south east of twin cities about 70 miles)
- Willingers is fun, mentioned above
- Stone Ridge
- Loggers Trail
- Edinburgh GC

Favorite Private Courses:
- Hazeltine GC
- Minneapolis GC
- Windsong Farms GC

Private Courses I WANT to Play:
- TPC Twin Cities
- Interlachen GC
- Spring Hill GC

Non Twin City Favorites:
- Brainerd: Bobbys and Dutch Legacy Courses
- Duluth: Lester Park new 9 along lake superior (Fun value in an old Muni)

Those are some of my favorites. If I think of some more I'll edit my original post. That should give you some google searching fun over Christmas.

I would also check out Golden Eagle in Fifty Lakes. My high school team played up there for a practice round and we were the first groups to ever walk the entire layout.

AH very excited about the prospect of a Midwest Bandon. I have noticed posts here and there with details. I thought everyone was just full of it, but it sounds like it is actually happening. I can't wait for them to break ground.

I caddied in Bandon last summer and fell in love with links golf. I'm also excited as it'd be nice to have some firm and fast fairways in the heartland, but it'd have to be something special to compare to playing on the edge of the continent At Bandon Dunes. Sure wish I could play a quick 9 at The Dunes Club.

No I only got a chance to play Bandon Dunes.l I was going to play Old Mac as well but I got really sick and had to cancel the tee time

I went to college in Ashland and grew up in central Oregon. I thought I was the only one stupid enough to move to Minnesota. I live in Woodbury, so if you ever want to play the east metro, give me a shout.
