Wedges: Wilson FG Tour CNC Milled vs Wilson FG Tour TC vs Nike Pro 3X3

Hi all,

 

Which of the subject title mentioned wedges is the better? In which order (1st being best etc..) would you place them and why?

 

Would having 50* and 54* Wilson FG Tour TC wedges combined with a 60* Nike Pro V 3X3 wedge feel natural or would the Wilson be such a different feel to the Nike that it would feel odd playing the both of them?

 

The Wilsons have the DG Wedge shaft and the Nike has the DG S400 shaft.

 

The bottom line is this:

Option 1: 50*, 54* and 58* Wilson FG Tour CNC Milled wedges with the DG Wedge shaft (8/10 condition).

 

Option 2: 50* and 54* Wilson FG Tour Traction Control wedges with the DG Wedge shaft and a 60* Nike Pro V 3X3 wedge with the DG S400 shaft (all 8/10 condition).

 

Which option is better and why?

A new choice in wedge options came up today and I wanted the post's title to reflect my new option. Being unable to change original post's title I requested the forum moderator to close the original post (hence it's now locked) and I created a new post to reflect my new questions.

I have no experience with the Nike wedges, so I would be of little help.

It is worth saying however, If you hit "Edit" in your first post, then "Use full editor" you can change the thread title of a thread that you created.

I play with the fg tour wedges and have no complaints. Ive never used that particular nike wedge but i have used other nike wedges and was not impressed with any of them.

What is the model of your Wilson wedges (Traction Control, CNC Milled or TW9, etc..)?

I have seen close up pictures of the wedges I've mentioned and this is what I think:
Wilson TC wedges - these had the milled lines between the grooves like the cleveland wedges have. I think the milled lines may add to the roughness to increase spin.
Wilson CNC Milled wedges - these had the very fine curved grooves in addition to the normal grooves. The very fine curved grooves are so smooth that I cannot see it causing any increased spin.
Nike Pro V X3X - these had mini (very small) 'X' between the grooves which add to the roughness, I expect to the degree the TC wedges have with the milled lines. The thing about the Nike wedge is they have more normal grooves (19 grooves on the 60* wedge) than the other wedges.

That;s my thoughts from viewing them but just wondering if any of you had put them into action.

I would like three wedges of the same model to keep consistency but I feel if the TC wedges are newer and more improved than the CNC Milled wedges then I should get the better wedges. Yes the Nike (being the third wedge) doesn't match but it is forged and has a sole to allow the club to be opened. Open sole and forged I feel are important for the most lofted wedge in order to produce the delicate flop shot. Your thoughts?

I play the cnc milled. I saw to difference in performance between the cnc milled and the tc thats why i chose the cnc milled. Sounds more like you have already made up your mind.
