Any help? possible EE?

Hi guys,

 

Been struggling for a little while now with consistency. My handicap Is 5 and has been for about the past 4 years. I know on my good days I can play better than that but inconsistencies keep me there. Really annoying!!! Some days I can't miss the middle of the club and then others I'm hitting hosel rockets! It's a horrible feeling not knowing how you're going to hit it.

I think I've got a major bout of early extension which I just don't know how to cure and I think leads to the shanks. As well as that I really don't like my look at impact position. It looks really rounded and like I'm standing up to me.

I'm hitting a 6 iron in this video. Sorry about the lack of a face on view, I'll try and get one as soon as possible.

Really nice swing. Tried to get a shot of you at impact, and was wondering if this is where you feel rounded and as though you are standing up? Also what is your usual miss?

Usual miss is right. With driver my bad one is a sort of push fade.

Just a little bit more explanation on my swing and what I've been trying to do recently...
I read a lot of Monte Scheinblum's stuff as he talks a lot about early extension and ways to fix it. Since beginning reading his explanations and watching videos it's the first time that I think I've actually understood my swing and what my problem is. The guy's a genius!
One thing which I've picked up on and been trying to incorporate is the secondary tilt. I've always been told that I need to get my hips to turn better but it's always been a difficult concept to get my head around. Secondary tilt though has helped me to realise that you need more lateral movement while keeping the upper body centred. I feel like when I do this properly I can hit it really good and turn my hips a bit better. Although often, especially in my wedges, I hit everything towards the heel. It's when it moves too close to the heel that obviously the shanks come in. I don't know how to eradicate this though.

First I really like your setup and fundamentals. Watched your swing video and the problem looks obvious to me. You setup beautifully with nice erect posture shoulders square to spine angle with good balance. Takeaway and at the top are great. But when you start to downswing you loose your posture and by impact you look like an ole man slumped over walking with a cane. Not trying to offend you but the picture speaks a thousand words.

That slumping and pinched in shoulders is changing your reach lengthening it by several inches and making you push the club head further away from you to keep from sticking it into the big ball (turf). Result, shanks and hosel hits. Keep that posture you set up with all the way through the swing to impact and do not let those shoulders pinch forward and slump over. In other words keep that nice "T" Frame you create with your shoulders and spine angle at set up, and not hit with the "Y" frame slumped over position at impact.
