Callaway uPro courses

Callaway has shut down their uexplore website, which allowed owners of the uPro devices to download courses. If you have a uPro G1, and maybe the Go version, but NOT the MX version, I think it's possible you could share Basic Mode courses with other uPros,

Although Callaway's online info last time I checked indicated they will still honor the warranty, I don't think they will. I talked to a support person who told me that they hadn't sold any MX+ uPros for 2 years to retailers. However, I bought one through Amazon on Dec. 22, 2014 in order to have the preloaded 25,000 basic mode courses. I managed to update the software and download 50 courses, but the thing stopped working altogether a few days later. Wouldn't turn on. I returned it to Amazon for a full refund.

I already had a uPro G1 for a few years, and as has been noted in another thread, you could download and stash courses on your hard drives to restore later. The uPro has no 50 course limit unless you are synching and synching is no longer possible, so you can put as many courses on your microSD card as will fit, you can also name the folders anything you want. The uPro G1 gets its course name from the XML file in the course folder. I have gotten a 2GB microSD card to work in my uPro G1.

Now, Pro Mode courses are around 20MB of data, but Basic Mode courses are around 250kb.You could store many more than 50 or even 100 courses on your uPro G1 if most of them are Basic Mode. All that's necessary for Basic Mode is the XML file in the course's folder, you could delete the rest from a Pro Mode download, i.e. all the holes with their AVI files. The course would work as Basic Mode, although when picking courses it would indicate (incorrectly) that the course is Pro Mode (due to the fact that "Pro Mode" was embedded in the XML file when the course was downloaded). You couldn't share a Basic Mode course that was thusly converted from a Pro Mode course because the serial number of the device used to download the Pro Mode course would be embedded in the XML file. I haven't tested this, but I presume it is the case. I also presume (hope) that a Basic Mode course that was downloaded as such would work on another uPro G1.

If you want/need a Basic Mode course, I say ask for it and maybe someone has it and will send you the course. It can either be the folder with the XML file inside of it or they could just send the XML file and you could put it in a folder with the course name and plop that in the \course_data folder. Someone should try sharing a uPro G1 Basic Mode course with someone with a different uPro and see if it works.

What version of uPro do you have? Now, I believe that you will probably be able to use someone else's Basic Mode downloads but not Pro Mode downloads. Their support told me that the downloads are specific to the serial number of the device used to download them. Presumably, because Basic Mode courses were free from the get-go, that security feature wasn't employed when downloading courses in Basic Mode.

I did most of my downloading in the final two weeks that the site was up. I would have downloaded more but the site went down for long periods (several days in succession) during the last week. The only Basic Mode course that I have is Ekwanok CC, VT, because Pro Mode was not available for it.

I had a upro G1 until my new dog recently ate it. However I have courses on file, both normal and pro mode for counties of the uk where I am likely to play. This includes Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands, Shropshire and North Wales. I also have some of the famous national courses. If you need them, contact me and I will send files if I have the specific course you need.
I do not use this site very often so you may have to wait until I access it again to hear from me.
I have been scouring the internet to find anywhere I can download courses that I didn't get before the callaway site shut down. I am looking for Iron Valley in Lebanon, PA and Bella Vista in Gilbertsville, PA.

I have many basic courses for the local area but not these 2.

Thanks,
Antonio
I'll need to check sometime. I may have them. I'm in the allentown area and downloaded a bunch before it shut down but I don't know about those.
