Scotty Cameron J.A.T.

Hey all,

So I have just purchased a Scotty J.A.T. and was looking for some more info. First of all a huge thank you to Grumpy84,I cannot wait to get this in. Has anyone ever gamed one of these? I've been playing Bettinardi putters for a few years now so this may change it up. Any info on Years of Production or some background would be awesome!

I still have mine. I think I got it new around 2002.

2002 sounds about right. There were 2 versions of these, I had and sold both at some point. The second version has "Sergio Garcia" stamped on the sole.

I'd agree it was somewhere in the early 2000s or even late 1990s. I was also under the impression that the JAT was a prototype for what would eventually be the Del Mar 3.5.

Thank you for the info! I am excited to get this in tomorrow, it may even end up in the bag by weeks end! It looks clean and very simple, I love the shape! It reminds me of a del mar look minus the sole weights

The overall shape of the Del Mar 3.5 and the JAT are different. The bumpers are very different as well.

I was thinking more along the lines of the heel shafted half moon design. I love the black finish on this one, t reminds me a lot of my old Circa 62

Mine is a "Raw" finish. Kinda like an aged raw Vokey.

The black goes raw if you don't maintain it with the oil cloth.

JAT is an acronym for Just A Thought. Scotty Cameron designed the first one for sergio garcia in the early 2000s. Its an old La Costa model with a flow neck instead of a plumbers neck. IIRC they only made 5000 of them, and 500 of the models stamped "Sergio Garcia" on the bottom. It was the same head but just with Sergio's name on the bottom. I have one that I still game from time to time. Great putters.

I had the same finish on my old Circa 62's, easy to maintain just have to remind myself to keep the oil coat fresh

This is correct for the retail version. I saw at least one Tour model floating around eBay last year that was identical in shape, but was 350g.
